Ready player is a book written by Ernest Cline. Ernest Cline has also written two other books Armada and The Importance of Being Ernest. Ready player one is the only book so far in the series.

The book is set in 2044, in inner city Oklahoma. Wade Owen Watts is the main character of this book or his name in the OASIS Parzival , Wade is the protagonist and narrator of Ready Player One.

Wade Watts is a eighteen year old boy, He was brought up with a hyper-realistic, 3D, video game paradise called OASIS. His dad died before he was born, from an unknown cause. After his mother died when he was young so he was forced to live with his aunty and her boyfriend, they are very poor and they try to get money whenever they can, including selling Wades laptop multiple times.

Wade is actively searching for the easter egg James Halliday hid in the OASIS programming in this book this is known as a Gunter. He must face many challenges to get all three keys to unlock James Hallidays easter egg. Like the Sixers, employees of IOI, who are trying to kill Wade so they can get the easter egg for them selfs.

And this is one of the reasons Wade is a huge fan of old video-games, movies, and television shows, especially those that James Halliday has mentioned in his novel, the Anorak Almanac, is his favourites.

James Halliday is the creator the OASIS. Just before his death, Halliday created an easter egg for OASIS users inside the OASIS simulation, and set a quest for the easter egg that was based heavily on the video games and popular culture of his childhood. In real life he was socially awkward, and just left rooms when he wasn't interested. Halliday went into hiding from the world, where he spent the last few years of his life creating the quest for his easter egg.

Another character is Samantha also known as Art3mis. She is a high-level gunter in the OASIS, and has a blog about her exploits in the OASIS which Wade loves to read. She is the first gunter after Wade to obtain the first key, out of three keys to finding Halliday's easter egg. In their quest for the easter egg, although at first they have a conflict over the quest to find the easter egg eventually leads to their falling out. Towards the end of the book they manage to meet in person.

This book has many different references from different movies, songs and video games like from a movie named WarGames, a video game named Joust and a song called 3 is the magic number.

This book uses very creative and descriptive writing and has very funny parts to lighten the dark mood. This book will keep you up for nights because it is very interesting and creative. I would recommend book is for older ages since it is very mature and has very colourful language at points.
