I usually try to read the book first, but sometimes I end up seeing the movie first with my mom, who may have already read the book before me, then I hear her mumbling "that's not how it was in the book" and I'm like "mom, shhh some of us are trying to watch the movie!" Seeing the movie sometimes makes me want to read the book, because I know it will be better. To me it's just a matter of timing.

Barely Competent (barelycompetent) I usually watch the film first just because I'm an agonisingly slow reader and always have WAY to many books on my TBR list. So usually I'll see a film and find out it's a book and then ask for the book for my birthday or Christmas. With YA series (which is what I read most) I tend to watch the first film, read all the books and then watch the other films. I do usually re-watch the film once I've read the book.

Gala (galaer) I read the books first allways because most of the times the movie skips lots of important information and cool stuff. And if you read the book first, you'll understand more things when you watch the movie.

message 9: by Zsófia (new)

Zsófia (_zsofia) | 7 comments Depends on the story. If it really interests me I should go with the book first. If not the movies are usually enough.

message 11: by Suzi!!! (new)

Suzi!!! (suzievelyn) I usually read the book first, but if I'm not really sure if I want to read a certain book, I'll watch the movie to see if that interests me. I know it might sound weird, but the Maze Runner movie is basically the only thing that's kept me from giving away or selling the book.

message 16: by Katie (new)

Katie It depends on the book/film. Perks of being a wallflower and Stay with me, I read the books first then the films and I (hate to say it) loved the movies of both better than their books because for me, the films brought everything alive. Whereas, Love Rose film, I've watched but not read 'When the rainbows end'. But generally, it is a bit of both.

Nina | 11 comments I do my best to read the book first but sometimes I’ll watch a movie without even knowing it came from a book and it makes me a bit disappointed. But I usually love the movie so assume the book is relatively good until I can read it for myself
