Aside from some minor things like Blackbolt's cowl and Gorgon's goat legs, it looks like they're going full comic book. That gets the Trike Seal of Approval. #TeamLockjaw

Edit: although I just noticed the showrunner is the same guy behind Iron Fist. Cause for concern.

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1803 comments That's pretty awful.

But at least the dog is cute! Probably the only reason I'll try to watch it. #TeamLockjaw

Rick That does not look good. "Let's take the main character to Earth. Of course he cannot speak..." is an interesting choice.

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5196 comments Meh. Lockjaw is cool. Everything else looks middling at best.

Here's hoping they at least use the "Lockjaw is intelligent" bit from the 80s, now long since retconned.

Trike | 11202 comments Looks to me like a lot of the things that aren't great-looking are due to budget constraints. It's just cheaper to film in Canada than on the moon, and the CGI is decent enough for TV work. So I'm grading it on a curve.

I wouldn't even have imagined getting an Inhumans TV series 20 years ago, so something is better than nothing, and it appears to be 90% there.

But you know me, I'll tear it to shreds if it sucks.

Rick I think my issue with it is the actors, specifically their look. I mean, the guy inciting revolution... do you really think anyone follows Dweeby Little Brother With The Questionable Beard?

And I really am curious about how it will work to have a character who cannot talk be the focus.

John (Nevets) Nevets (nevets) | 1903 comments Ok, I'm not supper well versed in Marvel lore ( always been more of a D.C. Guy), and I haven't watched the last season+ of shield, but wasn't that the inhumans in that series as well. Is this set in the future?, or is this a differant continuity?

message 8: by Phil (new)

Phil | 1454 comments I believe it's the same continuity but a different group. The group depicted in the trailer is the "royal family" who rule a secret Inhuman colony on the moon.

Filmed in Hawaii. But I get your point ;)

To me, it looks worse than Agents of SHIELD 1st season bad. But I'll give it the benefit of the doubt (like I have AoS). I might even go see the premier in IMAX.

Rick I think the challenge for them will be two fold:

1) There's no hook to the rest of the Marvel MCU. AoS had Coulson who was a popular character.

2) The conflict shown in the trailer will only work for 1 season at most so they'll need to develop some reason for us to care about the characters and watch them past that if it gets renewed.

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5196 comments Going back to the early days on the Inhumans, they regularly had Maximus the Mad trying to take over the throne. So I'm not surprised they're using that storyline. But the transition to real life people is a little harder for these characters than Luke Cage or Daredevil.
