Play Book Tag discussion

I'm curious - - aside from Goodreads, what other reading resources are you really relying on these days?

For me, Goodreads is definitely my biggest resource. After it comes:

1. Bookmarks Magazine (love this!)
2. BookBrowse
3. WSJ Review section
4. People magazine book review page

2,3, and 4 are pretty FAR down the list, but I do pay attention.

Ooh, I forgot about Book Riot! That's probably third overall for me.

My close friend always sends me reviews from the NYT. They are really good. Almost makes me want to subscribe. Wish I could just subscribe to the book part though . . .

Goodreads is probably at the bottom of that list. I learn more about new releases from other sites and direct contact from publishers I have relationships with thanks to the blog.

I do get good recommendations from by Goodreads friends but with regard to learning new book news, this is not the site where I get that.

After Goodreads, my next resource for learning about and choosing books is browsing bookstores and the library. Or asking others in Starbucks, airports, or by the pool what they are reading.

Goodreads is definitely number one, and then Bookriot and an Australian book store called Readings. They send emails and have regular Facebook updates. The Wheeler Centre, also here in Australia, is a literary and publishing centre that I love. They have regular events and regular newsletters. The Melbourne Writer's Festivsl is coming up here too. Hooray!

Number one is Goodreads for me, then BookRiot. I also browse Amazon for books similar to the ones I bought, I sometimes happen to find nice ones this way. Other than that, I follow a lot of publishing houses on Facebook, so I'm always up to date with their new releases.

Many people have mentioned new releases. I rarely read a book until after its been out a couple of years, so i dont pay attention to those. Only because i hate long holds on library books and i try to read stuff thats been on the tbr longer.

I love lists - best of the year, new releases, whatever. Then I like GR so I can see how a book is rated by people whose taste I'm familiar with as I'm also not someone who wants to be an early reader of a book.

BookPage which my library used to get in paper form. I probably got 80% of my TBR list from it. But alas. my library stopped carrying it and though I still check it out online it's not the same.

I think when we say Goodreads most of us mean our groups.

I actually have found more than one interesting book by looking at ads and recommendations,
