Weird And Odd Title: Cookies and Riddles
By: WAO
Prompt: #9
Key Item: A note with riddles.

Janine had found herself stuck in the American Dream. She worked a 9-5 job sitting behind a cubicle in an office building a couple miles from her apartment. She did some boring, easily forgettable job like financing or something, and she had coworkers that were friends and coworkers she hated.
Janine loved food. It was her real passion, and it's what she had wanted to do for years. But because of her parents pressure, it never happened. Instead, she ate pre packed lunches from home, or a bag of chips from the vending machine.
One day, Janine plopped down on her desk to find a small, bite sized chocolate chip cookie. She thought nothing of it, and popped it into her mouth. She then proceeded to boot up her computer and start working on the report that her boss had bombarded her with yesterday.
The next Tuesday, it happened again. Janine thought nothing of it, having forgotten the cookie of yesterday, and she popped it in her mouth. She booted up her computer, and continued to do her report. She savored the little cookie for the short time it lasted.
On Wednesday, Janine noticed the cookie. She reminded herself that there had been another cookie, just like it, yesterday and on Monday. She ate the cookie, noticing how even the dough was sweet, even without the chips in it.
On Thursday Janine was determined to find the source and the reason for the cookies. Instead of eating it immediately, Janine looked around her little cubicle for any other differences. None were found. She slowly and hesitantly ate the cookie, only now just noticing how delicious it was. The chips were small, but evenly spaced out, and they added to the cookie instead of overwhelming it. The after taste wasn't bitter, but a dull, softly mingling sweetness of the dough. It was soft, but it didn't melt away or stick to the roof of her mouth. She remembered those cookies.
On Friday, Janine revived another cookie with a note. Before she even touched the cookie she picked up the note, reading it carefully.
Follow your dreams and you'll never make the cut.
Chase your dreams quickly and the door will be shut.
Compromising your heart is how you will fall,
But do nothing but cook and you'll be the best of them all.
2467 Palomino River.

Janine was confused, but she sat down and booted up her computer. She still had work to do, but she would DEFINETLY check out that address after work. She ate the cookie, and taped the note to the corner of her computer so she wouldn't forget. After work Janine raced to her apartment as fast as she could. She quickly took her car and almost sped towards the address, nearly breaking the law. Once she got there she saw another note.
Janine your curiosity and skill will be the start of your new life.
This bakery has everything you need, butter, sugar, and more than one knife.
Replicate the cookies and the job is yours,
Fail to do so and you'll be stuck on chores.
I know you can bake with the greatest of ease,
And you can do so with me if you very well please.

Janine was absolutely flabbergasted! How could this bakery know she loved food, where she worked, and even her cubicle? How did they know she was actually good at baking? What if they were wrong and meant another person?
Janine went home with more questions than answers, and she slept with dreams of binder cakes and cookies.
The next morning Janine went to the bakery. She was greated by an employee, who asked her normally what she would like. She asked if she could speak to the manager, and the employee agreed. When the manager stepped out, she was absolutely startled. It was her own mother. She had had a dream of starting her own bakery, but it had fallen throug. Apparently when her father died the money he left in his will allowed her to start a bakery, and higher their daughter.
Janine quit her job the next Monday, packed her things, and left to start her new life of happiness and sugar topped confections.
