Kalyn (kalyncochran) | 3 comments So I'm new to GR and I'm still learning how to make my way around the site. I'm not sure whether I fall into Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy, Buddy Reads.... I'm all over the place. I get a little lost at times too lol.

Basically, I absolutely love anything paranormal/fantasy with some romance. So fae, demons, angels, shifters, etc. I've been reading Sarah J Maas's series Court of Thorn and Roses and Throne of Glass.

I'd love to find a friend/buddy who is interested in the same reads as I am and maybe we can exchange titles to try? Most of my friends don't read and the few that do are interested in stuff like Fifty Shades of Grey, which I'm not opposed to either but my heart lies with PNR/Fantasy.

I'd love any suggestions to books. I'm not against YA but really prefer Adult. I've been on a Fae kick lately but am open to anything. I also would really love a good long series. I like the standalone and short stories but I read so fast that i'm usually done in a couple hours unless its over 300 pages.

The Throne of Glass has really captured my heart. The main character is a kick-butt heroine who is a trained assassin and doesn't need anyone to save her but of course there are the big strong Fae males who still try... I'm loving the girl in charge scene.

Again though- open to anything. My kindle houses about 300+ books and while I know there's millions out there I feel like I've read everything!! LOL. Thanks for reading this extremely long post. :)

Josie Jaffrey (josiejaffrey) | 56 comments Hi Kalyn,

Welcome to Goodreads! Please do add me as a friend if you like - I'm happy to do the odd buddy read.

I'm a big fan of adult PNR too (I tend to stay away from the YA stuff these days). I've just finished Kristen Callihan's Firelight, which you might enjoy.

I run a book club that does written and video reviews that we post to GR, reviewing all sorts of books (i.e. Not exclusively PNR). More info at www.josiejaffrey.com

Happy reading!

Josie

Hi Kalyn! UF/PNR are my fave genres.

I took a peek at your shelves and didn't see any J.R. Ward or Nalini Singh. I would definitely recommend these authors. ☺ (You may already have them in your Kindle but didn't happen to see them in your GR library.)

Anyhoo, happy reading!

Timelord Iain I'm a bit busy for Buddy Reads at the moment, but with all the UF/PnR I've read I'm sure I can point out a ton of books/authors/series to try.

For Fae, I'd say to try Fever by Karen Marie Moning: Darkfever: 5 book continuous story about Fae in Dublin... its a bit slow starting, but the character changes a lot with each book... the series continues past the initial arc of book 5, but the later books are much more polarizing among fans, and I haven't read them

On the more traditional UF side of things there is October Daye by Seanan McGuire: Rosemary and Rue: There is a bit of romance in this one, but its a bit of a slow burn and some other things have to resolve first... I like to say you need to make it to book 3 to really start loving this series

Those are the 2 Fae-oriented series I can think of off the top of my head... now I'm just going to list a bunch of popular UF/PnR series by first cover:

Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling #1) by Nalini Singh Discount Armageddon (InCryptid, #1) by Seanan McGuire Written in Red (The Others, #1) by Anne Bishop Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews Clean Sweep (Innkeeper Chronicles, #1) by Ilona Andrews Burn for Me (Hidden Legacy, #1) by Ilona Andrews Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs On the Prowl (Alpha & Omega, #0.5) by Patricia Briggs Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunterverse #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon A Quick Bite (Argeneau #1) by Lynsay Sands Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione The Mane Event (Pride, #1) by Shelly Laurenston The Unleashing (Call of Crows, #1) by Shelly Laurenston Dragon Actually (Dragon Kin, #1) by G.A. Aiken

I'm sure I can think of more, but this is a lot for now... hopefully some catch your eye...

Kim (88kimlaw) Amelia Hutchinson has some fae books. She's a bit darker but worth a try.
