K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1297 comments When I was a kid, I was for a time fascinated with alliterative poems - ones in which each word starts with the same letter of the alphabet, with the poem going through (at least) the whole alphabet. One of the most famous such poems starts:

"An Austrian Army, awfully arrayed
Boldly, by battery, besieged Belgrade."

Get the idea?

I was wondering if this group could put together something similar, using criminals as the main focus of each line - an example would be "Bloody Benders buried bodies" or "Bundy's break beguiled babes", though I'm sure we could come up with better ones.

The idea would be that each line doesn't necessarily tell a story continuing from the previous one, but that it in some way explains an aspect of the crime committed by the subject. Anybody up for the challenge? Let's try to go alphabetically.

Hari Brandl (crochetbuddies) | 649 comments So..., each line of the poem you quoted starts with consecutive letters of the alphabet. Is that alliterative poetry? I'm not that into poetry, jus' sayn'...
(Is that snarpy?)
After that I'm lost.

Fishface | 18834 comments Alliterative means using the same initial consonant over and over. I never heard of it mattering what order those consonants came in unless you were playing "the Minister's Cat."

(On this forum, I should probably say "take a stab at this," shouldn't I?)

Fishface | 18834 comments With so many SKs and so many letters of the alphabet, we may have to settle for blank verse. "Dices deltoids" was awesome.

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1297 comments Blank verse will work fine. No need to strain for rhythm and rhyme.
