Worst character in the Harry Potter series?

Besides all that, he also just reminded me of every teacher who's ever tried to use their power to take advantage, and be cruel to kids so it just wasn't very nice to read. He honestly made me want to throw the book down sometimes. He talked bad about a child's father, when the child had ever met him, because of Snape’s actions no less, and tried to make him remember his dead father in a bad light, when he had no real way to know if he was telling the truth or not. It was straight up emotional manipulation which should have never been allowed in school. It was just cruel.
But I know people bring up the argument that James was a bad guy too, and he was a bully, but honestly that's not true. First up, the memory Harry saw was from Snape's point of view, a guy who hates James, his arch enemy. It's described by Harry that he was sitting very far away from everyone, so honestly there's no way he could have heard them, especially considering none of the 4 marauders would have talked about remus being a werewolf while anyone could hear. Even if the people around them already knew I doubt they'd be that open, and besides it would probably still be ingrained in their mind to keep it quiet. So, Snape was probably just imagining what they were saying, which means they probably weren't actually just doing it out of boredom. Also in that incident he calls his supposed friend a racial slur, which in my opinion is worse to hurt a friend, then someone who you have mutual hatred with.
People also tend to forget all the good stuff JAmes did. When he was 12, he decided to undergo an illegal and dangerous transformation, to help a friend he’d known for a year. Not only that, but a friend who was considered a monster to most people who knew his true identity. HE also took Sirius Black in when he got kicked ou, and never judged him for being apart of the blacks, he only saw him a sirius. HE was loyal to all his friends to the very end, never believing any of them could be the snitch, even when all the other fiend swwerre turning against one another. HE truly couldn't of been such a bad guy tod all these things. Maybe he pulled pranks, but so did the Weasleys and nobody is using their behaviour to excuse let’s say Malofy’s .
Besides, talking about Malfoy it's not like Harry didn't mess with him time and time again, and nobody's calling him a bad guy for it. Snape hated James, just as Draco hated Harry, Draco just grew out of his grudge in a way Snape never did.
Honesty Snape was just a horrible guy, and in my opinion definitely didn't deserve the redemption arc. I think MAlofy deserved it because it was really obvious he didn't want to kill Dumbledoor, he was just scared for his safety and the safety of his family. He also had been corrupted by his parents beliefs for so long, which I know isn't an excuse but Snape was a halfblood so he would have never of been facing even half the pressure Draco was facing on a regular day. Besides, could anyone honestly say that their heart didn't break a little when Draco was crying in the bathroom with Moaning Myrtle?. Either way, Snape was just not someone who deserves redemption, or sympathy in any way. He was a grown up when he made his decisions and should have to live with the consequences.

Grawp was always my most hated character. I always hated the giant-toddler-ogre character type, and his getting to live while so many better people didn't pissed me off.
The fact that Fred was killed when Percy was RIGHT NEXT TO HIM makes me hate Percy, but admittedly makes Bellatrix even more sadistic.

Didn't mind her as a kid, but as an adult, she has far too much in common with the "Gone With the Wind" slave for comfort. Jesus. WTF Rowling?!!?

The cluelessness and confusion of people from the "Wizardly World" with muggle vocabulary and ..."
A mi resulto muy divertido , me reí mucho con él.

I feel bad for Snape, who is actually one of my favorite characters. He was so well written...
My least favorite character is Umbridge.

Percy gets on my nerves because he seemed ashamed of his family right from the start. Where did that sense of superiority come from?!
Obviously there's not much to like about Crab and Goyle. Bellatrix was bad enough in the books but then along came HBC and made her even worse in the movies! I think she did a good job because it made me hate the character even more.

Yep, I completely agree. I don't feel like we were given enough about him as an adult to understand how Lily could have ever fallen in love with him. It can't be as simple as Snape calling her a Mudblood and henceforth she was on James' side. He and Sirius were awful in school by the sound of it!

agreed

There are other people I don't like but are important and there are bad people that we all secretly love

UMBRIDGE!!! She is just awful!

Cho Chang isn't bad she was emotional. Cedric died and she wasn't sure about herself because she liked Harry. The problem with Harry is he doesn't cry.

plus it is v funny when he asks harry and hermione these questions and shows a genuine interest in harrys life.

i have to agree filch was really annoying but i did feel sorry for mrs norris when she was petrified

Serves absolutely NO purpose to the story and has NO likable traits. Is a giant (pun intended) burden, and Rowling lets him LIVE while Tonks and Remus die off screen? Now that's some hippogriff sh*t. Even Lenny from "Mice and Men" had the decency to drop dead by the end of one short book.

I totally agree with you! She was super annoying and over-dramatic. She's not my least favourite character because she was pretty much harmless, but she was just a super bland character who only served to distract Harry and annoy me haha

Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t think he’s a badly written character or anything, but there’s something about the way he narrates his story that just... rubs me the wrong way.
And yes, I say that HE narrates the story, because while the books are indeed written in third person, most of it is told from Harry’s perspective, and as a result, the narration seems to almost always make him the one in the right, no matter how wrong his judgments can be.
One thing that bugs me about Harry’s perspective on life is that, whenever he meets someone, he seems to immediately sort them into a « good » or « evil » box, like there is no in-between, and he almost NEVER re-thinks his first impressions.
Think of it like someone who watches a show, choses their ships on the very first episode, then refuses to change them whatever happens between the characters... Yeah, that’s how I perceive Harry sometimes.
Actually, I think Harry makes far too many judgements, wrong ones, that is. And while there is nothing wrong with having a flawed main character who makes mistakes (it is actually very appreciated), the story is still told from HIS perspective, so the narration always seems to be telling us that « Harry is in the right, while all the others are in the wrong ». Of couse, that isn’t true: as a human being, Harry makes mistakes. However, BECAUSE of the narration constantly telling us that Harry is somehow some sort of omnipotent God who owns the truth, he kind of comes off as a stubborn a-hole...
It’s not « Harry thought that that person was being annoying but you, reader, can have your own opinion on them », but rather « that person was being annoying and you, reader, should think such of them because Harry said so ».
This is especially prominent in The Goblet of Fire, during his « I hate everything and everything hates me » episode. Granted, he IS fourteen in this one and a lot of crap’s happened to him but my point still stands -I was fourteen two years ago and I’m pretty sure a vast majority of my classmates were a lot more open-minded than Harry.
So again, there is NOTHING wrong with Harry being flawed and making mistakes: he’s human! But there are moments where I really, REALLY hate reading the story from his judgmental, stubborn self’s perspective.
Harry is, of course, far from being the most evil character in the series. He actually isn’t evil at all. The thing is, evil characters such as Umbridge or Voldemort were MEANT to be disliked, while Harry is the character that the reader is constantly stuck with, and is supposed to sympathise with! So him acting so unlikeable and stubborn can make for a frustrating reading experience by times...
I overall prefer the books over the movies, but I do sympathise with Harry’s character a lot more in the movies because of that. Since we get a more neutral point of view (still Harry’s, but at least we don’t constantly hear his thoughts and opinions on everything), it feels like the audience is more free to have their own opinions on certain things, instead of having Harry’s forced down their throats.
Thank you for listening to my unlikely rant about how I think Harry is the most annoying character in the Harry Potter series... Please don’t be afraid to confront me if you disagree! :)
