did you actually finish the series???
the worst charachter is 100% argus filch.

exactly, I was especially irked when Rowling gave him a 'redemption arc' because like, he was literally the WORST FEAR of a child whose parents were tortured into insanity by someone who's still alive. Also the fact that we're supposed to feel bad for him because of the Lily arc just doesn't work for me because he called her a wizard slur and was surprised that she didn't want to date him after???? And then he tries to get Voldemort to kill her husband and child but leave her be so he can snatch her up???? Like sir that is her whole-ass SON.

yeah, but at the same time I got pissed off whenever Rowling tried to make us feel bad for him, so it did kinda get in the way of my enjoying the books

yeah I know his background, and in my opinion it still doesn't excuse the stuff he did, but if it does to you that's okay. After all, books are meant to be open to interpretation

Other close winers are Pansy and Bellatrix (but they didn't make any show of pretending they were nice, and honestly Pansy was pretty harmless and full of air).

the same scar, always paining. Having a huge responsibility... which sidetracks the prime characters of the novel... leaving some stories incomplete... JK Rowling had 'perfectly' designed Harry's character... But without adding a surprise element to his personality, it is stretched... I'm not saying that there shouldn't be a Harry at all... I'm saying that she could have added a bit more emotions and twists in his personality to prevent his one-dimensionality... Finally, this characterization makes Harry a tedious character in the latter novels.

Dolores Umbridge: This woman was the dread of anyone's dreams. Amazingly performed in the movies, Imelda Staunton hit the spot perfectly. Although, the movies neutralised her, as in the books she was even more evil. This character still disgusts me now and for ever.

It was just the fact he betrayed his friend James just not to get murdered by Voldemort. And he even helped him back into power although he knew if Voldemort would live again he would do his best to kill Harry, the son of his former best friend.

sheesh man

My 'worst' character is probably, well any Goblin really, they control all the gold in the wizarding world, but somehow they aren't exerting political pressure, because it seems like they aren't properly respected. All the portrails of them seem generic, and they don't really seem to play much of a role.
Honorable mention to Crabbe/Goyle, who could be some spell gone wrong for all the life and personality they were given. But in their case, it fits their backstory, such as it is.

The only reason he protected Harry was because he saw some of his mother in him. He hated Harry because he was like his father. Snape had betrayed Lily multiple times and expected her to love him back and because she didn't he was jealous of James. Yes, it is true that James was a bully but he was a good man. Had Snape been in the situation of Harry and Lily dying he wouldn't have hesitated to run and save himself. He also was a death eater and didn't intervene and convince Voldemort to spare them, rather he went to DUMBLEDORE and asked him to save only Lily. This, among many other reasons is why he was my least favorite character.
