Cnix435, what did these two-page stories have in common? For example: taught lessons to kids, funny or silly stories, people living in a mountainous region, etc.?
Can you describe the black-and-white illustrations: realistic/cartoony/cute, simple/detailed, painted watercolors/bold graphics, etc.?

I think the intent of each story was to teach children about aspects of adult life, but I recall them is just being very peculiar.
For example, I believe the purpose of the story about the boy with a bug down his throat was a bit of a satire about a child who was making excuses about using inappropriate language.
I wish I could think of more examples, but I can only recall bits and pieces.
As far as the art, I remember it being almost Shel Silverstien in nature, but perhaps a little darker in tone.

Please add some plot details from your posts to your header. This could help get your query solved faster since many people are skimming through the folders rapidly. If you are unable, a mod can help.
It was a large book, about 8 x 11 if I recall. It contained about a dozen short stories, all on two page spreads. The focus was mainly on the black and white illustrations, which filled the pages.
A few of the stories/illustrations I remember:
One about a grandmother who loved to run. Illustration was of her competing in a race in running clothes.
Another was about a mountain man. Illustration was of the man.
One about a boy who was sick and thought he had a bug in his throat. Drawing was a view down his throat showing the bug.
Last one I can remember was an elaborate drawing of a bunch of water pipes showing where something when when you flushed the toilet.
Please help! It's driving me crazy.
