Page Count Challenge
Since the past few months have been very category based, we decided that August would be a more relaxed challenge. So all you have to do is read, post reviews, and have your pages count for points. There will be some bonus options available for those who want to try for them. This will be a team challenge. If you would like to participate individually you may do so, just state this in the comment when you sign-up.

Rules
*Books must be read and reviewed from August 1st-August 31st to count.
*You may use five detailed status updates in place of a review.
*Buddy reads must take place within this group to count toward points.
*Manga, graphic novels, and books written in verse will count for ¼ of the listed page count.
*Pages from books started in previous months can count--only the pages read in August will count.
*Bonus categories can only be completed once per team member.
*A book can only be used for a single category.

Points
*Five points for every 1000 pages read.
*One point for a buddy read of a book 100-499 pages in length.
*Two points for a buddy read of a book 500+ pages in length.
*Two points for reading and participating in the group book of the month discussion.
*One point for each bonus category completed.

Bonus Categories
*Read the last book in a series.
*Read a classic book (100 years or older).
*Read a book with a buddy (in this group).
*Read a book by an author you have not read before.
*Read a book by an author who was under 25 at the time of publication.
*Read a book that is over 500 pages.
*Read a book set in the US, Canada, or the UK.
*Read a book with a yellow cover (must be 50% of the color).

This is the perfect challenge for me in August : )
I'm out of the country for 2 weeks and I won't have a good access to internet but I'll be taking my Kindle and I can post the reviews when I get back! : )

Perfect! This is a great challenge for travel, since you don't need to unlock categories or anything.

I'd like to try to go solo this time. I'd love to be in a team, but I'll be traveling as well, so my reading progress will be slow and I don't want to affect a team's score with that.

I've already started planning lol. I have a ton of 600-1000 page books that I'm hoping to read for this. Let's hear it for not having a page cap!!!

Yup. They are my favorite relaxed challenge. :)

Mine too. And I'm hoping this will be a good way for people to fit in books to use for the series challenge as well.

Yup. Especially after this month. It's already becoming a bit difficult to fit books. :/

They definitely at least required great team work and planning lol. I've been lucky on both this team and last month's team. :)

Teams have worked really well recently, which is good. Hopefully that keeps up.

I am interested in participating in this. Am I allowed to read what is on my TBR list or am I responsible for like finding and buying new books for this? Sorry I'm so confused. This is my first time in a group and participating in a reading challenge.

This is a good starter challenge. It's really easy. :D

You can read whatever books you want as long as they follow the rules in the first post. They can be books you own, library books or free online books, etc. ^-^

You can choose to be part or a team or go solo. If you choose to be on a team you will be assigned a team sometime near the end of the month.

As to what you've read. There will be a team review thread. After you've read a book you will post a review on that thread and the mods will add your points. :)

Since this is a page count challenge am I going to have to plan out longer books? Or will I be able to just read what is on my TBR list. I have books to read for like the next few months. Lol.

Also, I was looking at that thread you posted a link too. A girl in there kinda took point on posting and keeping track of what everyone reads. Is it like that in every group? I'm so new to this that I am 100% positive I'll probably mess something up or miss something. Lol.

You can read any book that you want. As long as you read it within the challenge dates. Different teams do things a little differently, but someone usually takes charge of keeping track. Since this is page based and not category based it won't require as much planning. So it it's a good one for you to start with.

Yes, page count challenges are great for longer books. :)

This would be my first challenge, and would love to start with this one! I have several ARCs to get through, and this will really motivate me! I'm happy to do a team or solo. What would you recommend for the first challenger?

Great! I think if you're interested in doing a team this would be a good time to try it out. Since it's an easier challenge (in the sense that specific categories don't have to be met) it might ne easier to get the feel for what a team would be like.
