Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments If I'd known there were vampires on this board .... oh I have questions! You aren't those sparkly types are you? Man, I hope not. But then again, maybe you're those big, Conan style vampires? Or maybe you'd prefer to drive around in souped up Nashes with a Tommy at your side? Uh? No?

Dusty Bibliophile | 28 comments I'd either want to be the living vampires of Kim Harrison's Hollows series (Dead Witch Walking) or a Felix Gomez style vamp (The Nymphos of Rocky Flats).

>grin<
My taste runs more along the lines of PN Elrod's The Vampire Files, Volume 1 featuring Jack Fleming, Tanya Huff's The Blood Books, Volume I featuring Henry Fitroy (who does not look like the actor they got to play him in the, thankfully, short lived TV series "Blood Ties), or Christopher Farnsworth's Cade series: Blood Oath.

Dusty Bibliophile | 28 comments Lol.

Well, there are also the bad vamps from MHI (Monster Hunter International), vampires in love with witches (A Discovery of Witches) and ... oh, you already dismissed Twilight. ;-)

You may like the Guild Hunter (Angels' Blood) series by Nalini Singh, where vamps and angels collide.

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments I did try to get into Larry Correia's MHI first book, but didn't get very far. I may try again soon. I really like his Grimnoir series though. Spellbound

And I really like Singh's Psy-Changling series, though the last couple of books did not really work for me. I will look into Guild Hunter books at some point. Thanks!

Guild Hunter have kick-ass women.

Sparkly vampires?!? What's that? Oh, wait, you mean those sparkle fairies that pass themselves off as vampires? Because they CERTAINLY are NOT vampires (IMHO).

I prefer Vampire: The Masquerade Revised and among those I'm partial to Clanbook: Toreador and Clanbook: Lasombra.

message 62: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Rick wrote: "Roger, isn't that nipping?..."

To nip: I nip - you nip - he/she nips - we nip - you nip - they nip; I will nip; I was nipped; I have been nipped; I would have been nipped…

Definitely a verb to use in my next book ;-))

message 63: by Lori S. (new)

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments And if you use the word too often it loses context and meaning ... thus nipping this conversation in the bud. ;0)

I liked the short lived TV series based on Masquerade. The ideas behind it were fascinating.

As for pretending sparkly vampires being fairies? Fairies ... I'd never thought of them that way before. Hmmm.

I agree though, they aren't vampires, not the way I always liked vampires any way.

Welcome Jamie. Please feel free to complain anywhere in the Complaint Department because we don't want you to explode. It's very messy and hard to clean up.

We are all friendly people who don't bite except with all this vampire talk I'm beginning to wonder :-)

Please feel free to jump in on any subject in any of the topics. We truly appreciate having another complainer.

Dusty Bibliophile | 28 comments Hiya, Jamie.

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Welcome, Jamie. Pay no attention to Preston, he sees vampires around every corner, but it's really only wishful thinking.

message 68: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments Yes Lori, I enjoyed that series as well (Kindred, the Embraced). It could have been much better, but it was still filled with potential.

Hi Eze,

You wrote, "I don't agree." That's your first complaint. Now that you have complained it should be easy to do it again. Don't think we don't appreciate your lurking. We do. Thanks for lurking.

We are friendly, welcoming, nice folks who believe you can't do anything wrong here (well except for not following the rules.) So since you cannot do or write anything wrong, don't worry about anything here. That make this a No Shy Zone so go ahead a be negative.

Hope to hear you complain again soon :-)

message 72: by Audiothing (new)

Audiothing I'm Bec and I've joined because I hate lots of things, like affirmations.
I'm never going to improve, so why should I even have to look at or listen to the stupid things

message 73: by Lori S. (new)

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments Affirmations are rather annoying aren't they? Almost too smug for their own good ... :0)

message 74: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments I know what "to affirm" means, but being a rural Brit, not sure what "affirmations" means…?

message 75: by Lori S. (new)

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2809 comments They tend to be quotes that are generally positive, feel good, or otherwise prove that someone is right about something.

You are the first new member I've written to in many months so it's good that you have introduced yourself and it great to hear you say "lovely Boyd." I've always felt lovely but you are the first person to say so. But now would you please tell some sexy, young, rich English guy that I'm lovely so he will sweep me off my feet and bring me to England with him so we can live our happily ever after :-)

Hugs! ♡ Boyd
PS: Lori is the coolest and nicest person in the world so I know she is very sincere in welcoming you.

message 85: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments Hello Crazy Moo,

A great BIG welcome to the Complaint Department with it's brilliant, empathetic and insightful readers and writers of M/M romance and gay fiction love stories.

Thank you for introducing yourself. I'm surprised Boyd stopped his favorite activity, flirting with guys, long enough to give you a warm welcome but I'm glad he did >grin<

Thanks for joining our group. It is chock full of super nice people so I'm sure you will find friends here. Enjoy!

You must have found a janitor with a big broom because that's the only way any guy will sweep Boyd off his feet. Although it might require tripping him with the broom handle. :-)

CrazyMoo Hi All,

Thank you for the lovely, warm greetings everybody. They are much appreciated and if I'm completely honest, seem genuine. (much more than other groups...*coughs* no names mentioned.)

Anyway...You did sound lovely Boyd and your pic was gorgeous, so I just had to say it. If I come across some fine gentlemen, I'll definitely send them your way. Promise!

Anyway, I'm off to have a nosey before I finish off the last of the book I'm reading.

Have a nice night! x

Roger Kean | 17278 comments I'd hold onto that excitement, Nia. When you've heard one complaint, you've heard them all! Actually, there are a lot of complaints in this group, but much good cheer as well. Must come of clearing the air!

Welcome!

Welcome Nia!
