Yes, good idea. We usually try to do that for these types (when we remember). Have review threads been created yet, or just chat threads? We don't really need them yet, just curious.

haha thanks! I totally forgot about updating the scores until this morning - I haven't had coffee in two days!! So I have no idea how I was functioning!! Plus, it's my birthday today so I figured I should get everything out of the way now before I end up forgetting about it and doing stuff for the day.

haha not yet. Lots of wine and whiskey though! but I have a feeling I will get tons of books for christmas because my entire list had books xD

Anyone got any ideas for a February challenge? Its valentines day that month (obviously) so I was thinking something based around love or something to do with valentines day. Maybe have it were we give them categories of different books they can read for the challenge with bonus points for buddies and all the rest.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, I'm on a 4 till 12 tonight at work so I won't be able to come up with the categories tonight but over the next couple of days I'll think of some base ones, make a list and then post it on here and see if theres any others that I've missed that you guys would like to add on :)

oooh and March's competition could be called like "Luck of the Irish" , "March Madness" , or something like that.

It could include sports books, or books set in ireland. Something green. Having luck in the title. Or something.

If you want to do a different challenge for February that's fine, but we already had the challenge for that month. Not March though.

What challenge did you guys come up with?

We had the Superhero Challenge planned. But we can push that back if you want to do something different. I already have it all worked out in a google doc, so it doesn't matter when we do it.

I made the January BOTM poll. And holy cow there was a lot of suggestions. Yeesh. Lol. I put the end date as a week from now, the 30th.

I noticed that there were a lot of them. It was crazy.

We could push it to April or May and go with the idea that you had. Then we would have more months already covered.

I might start looking over some of the ideas you guys were discussing and see if I can come up with anything to go with them. I'm a bit depressed at the moment and it might help me to actually do something.

Oh no. Why are you depressed?

No particular reason. I've had bouts of depression my entire life. It's been a lot better over the last year (I think, but it can be hard to tell), but right now it has decided to attack. So I'm just trying to give myself something enjoyable but not crazy to do.

Ok...so I don't want to hijack your idea, but I came up with these categories for a February challenge and thought we could call it something like Love and Hate (I created rules and all on a google doc as well).

Feel free to change any/all of these.

We can push the Superhero challenge into April or May and use this (Lizzie's idea) for February and Alaina's idea for March.

Anyway, here are the categories I have come up with. Do we want to allow them to be repeated or put a limit on that?

*Read a book with the word break (broken, breaking) in the title

haha same. I had the time and I was like.. might as well just added a couple of months so that we don't have do it for a while. Then I guess in april I can had the next 4 months. That way we only have to do add the planned buddy read threads 3 times a year.

I just wanted to stop in and wish everyone a merry Christmas! I also wanted to apologize for not being on and leaving so abruptly. Things just got extremely hectic with my personal life and I can barely keep up with classes as it was. As it is, I am having to retake a class because of all of the personal issues, so being on here wasn't on the top of my priorities. I am extremely sorry!

Things are better now that I am on break, but I am not sure how things will play out this coming semester. I am hoping that things will improve though.

I've read all the new messages and I really like the ideas for the new challenges.

I'd like to apologise for being so absent... I think I'll be retiring as Mod. Things have got pretty hectic at Uni and I barely have time to check in on Goodreads :(

I really enjoyed being able to help you guys whenever I could, I had a lot of fun! I'll still be active as a normal member of the group, but I don't think I can handle Mod responsibilities at the moment :(

That's ok, Salha! You can always become a mod again if you have more time in the future. :) And I'm glad that you like the challenge ideas and will still be around in the group! School is tough, so I understand not being able to take on a lot of extra stuff.

I'll definitely be back as a Mod once this semester ends; that'll be around mid-March. I'm on my penultimate semester, so the subjects are tougher than before :/

Yes, I remember that semester for me. Not a great one. :( But I know you can make it through! and then we can celebrate with some great reading challenges over the summer. :D
