Those are good! What is a lucky number? 7 right?

Google gives: 1, 3, 7, 9, 13, 15, 21, 25, 31, 33, 37, etc.

Also, I can put up the review threads later today, like around 7pm?

message 854: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Question. Can someone tell me how to turn off commenting on the January BOTM suggestion thread? I tried figuring it out and can't. We just got another suggestion so I figured turning off comments would be best since we're not taking anymore.

message 855: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments Yes. Go the the top of the thread and click edit next to the title.

In edit there will be two check boxes. Click the bottom one that says close and no one will be able to comment on it anymore. :)

I love these categories!

I was thinking that maybe the leprechauns on the cover was a bit hard? Or did you mean that there were leprechaun characters within the book?

message 859: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Just in the book. I will clarify that. :)

message 860: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I updated the list of March categories with the new ones suggested by Alaina and clarification on leprechauns.

message 861: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Looks good to me!

message 862: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Sweet! And I'm thinking that for now we should probably stick with letting categories be repeated. Thoughts on that? It will make it easier for multiple people to keep track of scores and such.

message 863: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Agreed. Repeating categories is just easier for the mods as well as readers.

message 864: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Good good. So we'll stick with that for now, I believe. And then we can always add in more strict rules for certain challenges. Like when we do bingo, having repeats has not worked well in the past.

message 865: by Salha (new)

Salha (salhavam) | 557 comments I have a question about a category from March. Can a book with Native American rituals and omens be used for the "Read a book with a religious theme" category?

I'm trying to plan ahead the books I'll be reading :D

message 866: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Yes, I think that would be fine.

Created a review thread for the quarterly challenge.
Here it is: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

and I have created the review threads for the resolutions challenge

message 868: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments So I just noticed that category 11 in the release date challenge makes no sense. Lmao.

message 869: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments When you get a chance, Alaina, could you adjust the resolutions for the team that Jamie and I have been commenting on? Can't remember what team it is, haha.

message 870: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments What is number 11?

message 871: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Ha, just looked at it. Just add in commas if you want it to be the letters.

Did you want it to say: Read a book with a title that starts with the word: Love, Luck, or Spring?

message 874: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Thanks!

message 875: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments I honestly don’t remember. I tried thinking of what I meant and just couldn’t come up with it. So I dunno. Lol.

message 876: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Alright, so February we have the Love and Hate challenge ready to go. March the Luck of the Irish. And we have the Superhero challenge ready for whenever we need it. Any ideas for other challenges?

message 877: by Alaina (new)

Alaina (ameserole) | 81936 comments Mod
Well we could think of the next quarterly challenge. I figured we could the superhero challenge for April. So that way we can figure out what may and June can be about as well. Maybe a summer sort of vacation for one of the months? Like a lot of vacation books. Maybe.

message 878: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Good idea. I keep forgetting about the quarterly challenges! Ugh.

And our group anniversary will be coming up in May, so having a challenge around June to celebrate that would be good.

Vacation books is a good idea. We could even do it so that you kind of map out a vacation for yourself, where you can visit real or fictional places and read books that go along with them.

message 879: by Alaina (new)

Alaina (ameserole) | 81936 comments Mod
I have no idea what the quarterly challenge will be about but maybe we could come up with the vacation challenge for May and the anniversary challenge for June? Or just switch them? And the anniversary challenge could just be a super random and fun challenge. Maybe help people branch or and read different genres? Or different authors that they are used to? Then the summer one would be the vacation step: places they want to go or have been.

message 880: by Alaina (new)

Alaina (ameserole) | 81936 comments Mod
Oh man I think my comments aren’t making sense! Sorry I’m on my phone because my laptop is charging in a different part of the house. I definitely meant people branching out and reading new genres. Sorry if I confused anyone!!

message 881: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I'll think of some ideas for quarterly challenges.

I think having the anniversary challenge be easy and fun is a good idea. Maybe just do a few categories that encourage people to try some new things, but have it mostly be just page count or something. So if we want it to be pretty simple (maybe with a few "special" things I come up with like in the past) we could do that in May.

And for June we could do the vacation one.

Maybe we could bring back a series challenge for another quarterly challenge. People really liked that one this year. Maybe we could do that over the summer or something.

message 882: by Alaina (new)

Alaina (ameserole) | 81936 comments Mod
I’m down with that. I mean the summer is all about fun so we should just make it something that a lot more people want to sign up for and enjoy. 😉

message 883: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Exactly! Alright. I will get some things down over this next week. I figure if I have a lot of the main challenge stuff done for the next few months it will be easier to keep up with when I go back to work. :)

message 884: by Alaina (new)

Alaina (ameserole) | 81936 comments Mod
Oh yes that would be! I like us being ahead of everything because then all we have to do is post everything.

message 885: by C.P. (new)

message 886: by RainySun (new)

RainySun (sunnyrain) | 875 comments Hello awesome mods! :D
I don't know where to say this so...

I thought of an idea for a challenge a couple days ago. The Fairy tales challenge, I thought of categories and I think it would be pretty fun 😊😅

message 887: by Alaina (new)

Alaina (ameserole) | 81936 comments Mod
RainsySun should totally be a mod 😊

message 888: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments She totally should! :D But seriously, if you're interested let us know. And feel free to post your idea for the challenge here or send me a message. We love getting ideas!

message 889: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments A fairy tale challenge sounds amazing! I LOVE reading retellings! I've already read so many and have so many more on my TBR! That sounds great.

Also, what if we did another challenge that wasn't monthly. like how we did bingo and it was two months long. I did a lot of participation in the bingo challenge in the beginning but kinda fell off because the not allowed to repeat categories really slammed me. But I liked the idea of having a team challenge go longer than one month.

And CP, I really really liked the series quarterly challenge. 95% of the books I've read were series. So that is right up my alley! Lol.

message 890: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments We could definitely do another two month challenge. Maybe over the summer? And I think the series one works really well, so we should definitely do that again.

message 891: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Or we could even do the Superhero Challenge over two months. It's a pretty long one. I need to look it over again.

message 892: by Alaina (new)

Alaina (ameserole) | 81936 comments Mod
Why not do a series challenge for our quarterly challenge. Superhero for April and May. Then our anniversary challenge for June. Summer challenge for July? Or summer challenge as our next quarterly challenge after the superhero one.

message 893: by Alaina (new)

Alaina (ameserole) | 81936 comments Mod
Oh and a fairytale challenge for July?

message 894: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Yes! That could work. So monthly:
Superhero in April-May
Anniversary (pagecount or something) in June
Fairytale in July
And then we can start brainstorming others.

Quarterly Challenges
Series April-June
Summer/Vacation July-September

This is great!
