Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments If my mom okays it I won't be able to send any until at least April if not May anyway so I have a couple of months to figure it out. ^-^

That works for me. They are doubles anyway so I have no desire to get them back. lol. :P

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Right. That's the good thing about it. If you're getting rid of it you likely don't want/need it, so even if it gets lost it's just whoever was going to receive it that is out.

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments My mom gave a hesitant okay so now it's just wait time. In the meantime I'm going to check out Book Depository. :)

Exactly. I was going to give away about 20 books when I got home anyway and this way I can use them as prizes. So win win. ^-^

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments So far it's about as good as Amazon to me. I don't think anything will ever beat Chapters since I get points there but it's nice to have another option besides Amazon. ^-^

message 1158: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I mostly use Amazon to buy my own books and book depository to buy books for other people. And then it's only if they live out of the country.

I've never bought books for 'strangers' before. So I'm dipping my toe in first with books I already own. I've bought some books for my younger cousins but that's pretty much it. :/

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments I think I might have found my holy grail for Japanese, Korean and French books to practice my reading!!!!

message 1161: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments @Bookbuyer, do you mind if I ask how old you are? You just seem like you'd be my age. I'm 26.

@CP, I have a bunch of books on my shelves that I am probably never going to read. However they are my sisters. And she isn't going to read them either. So I'm gonna ask her if she's okay with me adding those to the prize list since neither of us are going to read it. So if she says yes, we can thank Sara who just joined this group because that's my sister. Lol.

But I am also going to go to the used book store this weekend and see which books they have on that $1 shelf and maybe pick a few up.

Is the prize list current right now? So the members who win the January challenge can pick their prizes?

I'm 25. But I still live at home. :/

message 1163: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I will look at the prize list to be sure.

I live at home too, Bookbuyer. It's much cheaper that way! My job doesn't pay me enough to live on my own.

Ahh. Okay. I thought you seemed like you were my age. I don't blame ya for living at home. It's cheaper to live at home. I moved into my own place with my brother and sister because my mom moved out of the city to the country. And I'm 100% a city girl and would not last even a week in the country. Lol.

@CP, Sounds good. :D

lol. Same. My mom considered moving to my grandfather's farm for a bit but it doesn't even have wi-fi and I'm agoraphobic. It would not have worked well. :S

message 1167: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Just looked them over and I believe that both lists are correct now. I might have a few more books I can add on.

I live in the country (ish) and much prefer it. Though after visiting London I am pretty sure I could adapt to city life.

They only moved 45 minutes outside of my city. But I can't even do that. Lol. I work downtown. So that would not work for me. I wish I could still live at home. It's so expensive to live on your own. -.-

I live in Buffalo NY. It's no where near as big as London or NYC or Los Angeles or anything. But it is pretty big. So it'd be very difficult for me to go from city to country.

message 1170: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Yes, it is. That's why I still live with my mom. I help pay all the bills and such, which drains my paycheck. Having to pay all the rent and all the bills would be impossible.

I visited Buffalo once. I went to the military park there. I love ships, so I tour them wherever I go. I live about an hour from Charlotte, NC, so I have a city if I want one. Technically I live in the Charlotte Metro area.

message 1172: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments They just retired one of the ships that was at the navel park. They put a newer one there. But they kept it the same name? I don't really know much about the ships or navel anything really. I went on the ships once for a grade school feild trip. But haven't been back inside since. It just seemed weird they kept the same name for the new ship.

I want to visit Charlotte SO BAD! Omg. I've seen that town on House Hunters before. And it looks so cute. :D

message 1173: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Interesting. I'll have to look that up. I want to get back up there and go to the naval park again. We drove straight through the night (around 12 hours) and went straight there, so we were tired.

I don't know why I have this fascination with ships. I want to learn more about them and maybe write a story set on a ship. I visit them whenever I can. I even toured the HMS Belfast while I was in London.

Charlotte is pretty nice. If you ever come down you'll have to let me know and we can meet up!

message 1174: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments They had like a whole ceremony for the ship retirement and everything. I didn't go. But there were a lot of people that went. There should be news coverage from one of the news stations here that you can look into.

I will definitely let you know! I'm planning a trip to Toronto right now for my sister's 19th birthday. So it probably won't be anytime soon with putting money away for that trip. But I definitely want to try to go at some point! :D

message 1175: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I just looked it up. It appears that they commissioned a new Little Rock (which is one of the retired ships) and had a launch ceremony there. Very cool. Wish I could have been there for that!

Well, I am not likely to be leaving the area any time soon. ;D

message 1176: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Yeah, I watched a video of it. One of my coworkers went because he's a big history buff.

Did you grow up where you live?

message 1177: by Felicia (last edited Feb 01, 2018 08:01AM) (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Good morning ladies! Well, I mean it's morning for me. So. Lol.

Anywho, Sierra has asked me if she can still do the January BOTM thread for Cruel Prince. She has read most of the book but didn't finish before January 31st. Can she still post to that thread even in February and get the points for her February read?

message 1178: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments In answer to your question yesterday-yes, I grew up here in SC.

For the BotM: if she read most of it in January then she can still count it for the Quarterly Challenge. I thinj only the pages. read this month count toward the monthly challenge.

message 1179: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Yeah, that I figured. But she will still get the two points for the Release date one for reading the January BOTM. Right?

message 1180: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Right. She will still get those.

message 1181: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Wonderful. Good to know. I didn't think she could use it anymore after the month was up. I'll let her know. Thanks! :D

message 1182: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I figure if she started it earlier and has been commenting, she might as well be able to use it.

message 1183: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments I wanted to say that at first but thought I'd ask. It seemed like it was the right thing to do. But I didn't want to break any rules. Lol.

message 1184: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments We set the rules. 😆

message 1185: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Lol. I know. I'm still geting used to that part. Hahaha.

message 1186: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I can be a control freak at times, so I like making rules. 😷

message 1187: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Haha! I understand. I am too. 😁

Also, my sister said she is okay with us putting those books on the prize thread. I forgot to post them. And I’m already in bed. I’ll do it tomorrow when I get home from work. There’s about 10-15 books that we can add. They’re mostly for a younger crowd. But I think we have some youngin’s in the group so in case they win. And I’m still going to the used book store this weekend. Probably Saturday.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Sweet!

message 1189: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Evening ladies! :D

Okay, I am going to unlock the prizes thread so I can add a comment of the book that I have at home to add to the prize list. And then I'll put it back to locked. Just so everyone knows.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Sounds good. :)

message 1192: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Okay, added. Should we make it easier to find that thread? I had to go to the comment you put in the January sign up page to find where that thread was CP. I had no clue where to find it.

message 1193: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Maybe we should put a folder near the top for prizes?

message 1194: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments I think that would be a good idea. I just want winners to actually pick a book from the prize lists. Ya know? Lol.

message 1195: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Yeah, hahaha. I have shipped some out in the past (I think one to you?) So I know it has happened.

message 1196: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Yes! You did. Lol. I almost put that one back on this list. Lmao. I forgot which book you sent me. Haha.

message 1197: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments If your finished with it and don't want it, you could add it. I picked those up for free at 2nd and Charles.

message 1198: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments CP, did anyone who won pick a prize?! I am also going to add the Shatter Me series in soft cover to the list. I just ordered all the books in hardcover for the new book. :D

message 1199: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Nope. Haven't heard from any of them.

message 1200: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Damn. I noticed we added all teams together and then picked the top three people minus mods. Maybe next time we should let the whole winning team pick as well as the top three people? And maybe we should message the winners with the thread to pick a prize?
