I have no idea.

Thank you! She is a strong character, and I don't understand the hate she gets.

Well, some think she's not as impressive as the other characters and u could always replace her with another Aphrodite girl or Nico. Also some say she thinks about Jason to much or she's a Mary Sue. Or stole him from Reyna. Yes she is very stubborn. She takes everything as a 'bad joke'.It seems like she's a bit over dramatic and an attention seeker and of Jason doesn't notice her she makes it seem so dramatic. And I don't like how she claims Jason is "hers".


Don't get me wrong I don't hate her but she could be replaced I kinda dislike her not trying to Piper bash. I think she's strong and a good character but sometimes makes Jason seem flawless. But I think she's great cause she's saved their lives (Percy's and Jason's in MOA and Nico) lots of times and she had the guys not to betray her friends even with her dad captive. But I don't like her thoughts about Jason is my only thing. She makes him seem flawless and such.

I am one of the people that hates Piper. She just feels very weak to me. She has no clue how to fight and mostky just stares at her dagger. Then, she tells everyone what she saw and worries about it for half the book. I find that whiney and annoying. I also find the fact that she can charmspeak things into doing things that should be impossible obnoxious. Like bringing Jason back to life. It feels like she should be strong, but never does anything useful.

I used to love Piper, but I do think her romance has turned her into a semi annoying character. She got better in HoH but during MoA she drove me up the walls. Especially because she over dramatized every finnicking thing Jason did. She made him seem perfect (Which I think is why so many people both of them now) and that annoyed the livin Hades out of me.

Deeply agreeing there. In the Lost Hero, I was like "Piper's so awesome!", etc. But, even though she improved some in HoH, I still dislike her. She could probably die in BoO, and most likely I'd be fine with it. She just seems so shallow, so Oh-my-gods-I-just-saw-something-in-my-dagger-and-I'm-not-going-to-tell-anyone,-just-wallow-around-in-the-knowledge-until-it-happens, I really don't care too much if she dies or not....

I hated that too, she idolized him.

but guys think of it this way: what do you do when you like a boy? you over-romanticize it because you are totally infatuated.

Umm..she has a cornucopia as a weapon (and food storage :D) and she uses charmspeak against monsters too. Also, she now has a SWORD!!!

I think half of the Piper haters are there because of the whole Jason-Percy thing. Piper thinks Jason is better than Percy so of course half the fandom hates Her. Dam, can't you just accept one girl's opinion?? So what if she loves Jason? And no it wasn't an insta-love for Jason and Piper. They're together for EIGHT months, not two days. And they didn't even kiss in The Lost Hero.

Well... In The Lost Hero, i got really annoyed with her because she wouldn't tell anyone about her dad and dreams, when that could freaking resolve the problem.(sorta) i also don't gravitate towards her because she's not all that strong. but don't get me wrong, her charmspeaks kinda cool!!!! ( but its kinda weak too, since its not all that reliable. but then again, all the sevens' powers at some point fail them...... i think.....)

okay let's see, she is whiney, half the time she doesn't even know what's happening around her, and if it wasn't for jason or leo,she'd be dead long since dead.
and most of all she incessantly underestimates percy, she thinks of him as a kid, if only she was there in last year's battle,n i am sure she'd get eaten by that flying pig! that's ridiculous, she is ridiculous and quite frankly relatively useless on the ship.
and lastly, she thinks her stupid little problems are more important than anyone else's on the ship and saving the world, just because she had daddy issues does not make her any special, percy saw her mom captured by hades when he was 12, did he whined, or complained about it, no! instead he went all the way to hell to save her! in short, among a long list of defects as a demigod, she is also pretty vain.
They should just throw her off the ship.

idk about Leo. Leo can do anything and when every one is serious I think he could lighten the mood. which I would be good. I think Leo needs a girl. maybe that would change his personality.

She's also a bit of a weak character in my opinion; the only power she has is her charmspeak. I also don't like her because I feel horrible for Reyna. She has REAL memories with Jason and yet he chose Piper over her. Reyna deserves him more, and I just feel plain awful for her.

In HOH calypso changed him. He still tells jokes but he was heartbroken and became mature and stuff..

I think it's okay not to like certain characters, but no one should hate a character and even if they do it's not okay to HATE ON a character. that's just bashing someone else/ bashing the book itself.

Piper is a strong character and all but what makes me love her a little less is the fact that she is all about Jason. With everything she does she is focusing on Jason and her love for him and vice versa. The moment in The Mark of Athena when "Jason" and "Percy" are fighting and a specific thought crosses her mind was the moment when I got totally pissed off by her. It might have been for a second but she did say that she'd rather have Percy die than Jason. And the fact that she idolises Jason to the point of putting down Percy, who is a character that I've loved since the beginning and we all know he's done some pretty badass stuff, makes me want to punch her. She thinks of Jason as some kind of a superman and that ticks me off. She is a great character, apart from that flaw. I got really frustrated when she thought that Percy was less compared to Jason.

i love the book(enders game) too, especially the ending, but the sequel, not so much.

The only thing I didn't like about Ender's Game was the very ending. The whole "Giant's Drink" part at the end; it was just kind of confusing to me xD I don't think I'll read the sequels, cause what can they possibly do? This book is amazing, but I don't think it's made for a sequel.

I meant that i liked the part in the end when he, well "inadvertently" kills an entire species, and then feels bad about it. all people in the world were worshiping him and he hated himself, a killer with a conscious, it was kinda cool.

Yeah, I liked that part. Heck I liked pretty much every part in that book! xD The only down-sides to that book really was the excessive language and nudity. I mean like, it was a "little" excessive, right? xD

Come to think of it, it had been really annoying reading in Piper's POV.. Going on and on about Jason, being unnecessarily insecure. I mean, come on, have some faith in him! It's not like he's going to wake up someday and suddenly realize that he doesn't love her and actually loves Reyna! And you are on a freaking mission! Of course he'll be busy. No need to over-analyze every little thing he does.

I agree.. I mean, they are both leaders, and strong minded, and would be able to save each others back (like percabeth). I mean, I don't have any aversions to Piper, actually I liked her in The Lost Hero, but she annoyed the hell out of me in Mark of Athena!

I think some people are just jealous that their favorite charactor, Annabeth, is replaced by her, possibly. Sure I was a little disappointed at first but I don't HATE Piper. I think she is a good character.

Piper needs to not have constant thoughts about Jason sticking his dick into her pussy.

@kmaefantasy and others, I don't worship Annabeth and Percy, but Piper is slightly annoying. It is one thing to favor Jason. I'm fine with that. Sometimes she gets to a point when it seems like she insults everybody but the Lost Hero characters. She finds Percy annoying and doesn't seem to like Annabeth a whole lot. Then she seems to be lacking the ability to be supportive of the others. Sorry.

I don't hate Piper too. In fact I liked her in the Lost Hero. But you have to agree that she was annoying in Mark of Athena. Its not jealousy, its the way she behaved. And no one has been replaced. Everyone has their own part in the story.

I totally agree with you. I mean, on what basis can she judge anyone? Everyone on board have their limitations. She doesn't like Frank, she doesn't like Percy, or Annabeth, or Hazel.. The only people she likes is Jason and Leo. Ok, fine, she doesn't know them, so she can't actually like them. But that dosen't mean she has to dislike them. Especially when they all have to work together.. Give them a benefit of doubt.

Also, another thing that I don't like about her is she is always wallowing in self pity!

I have only read the Lost Hero. Still reading Son of Neptune. But she seems to get nasty in later books from what you guys are saying. Bummer, I thought she was an alright character. :-(

And she is good in all the other books too, but she gets annoying.. That's all..

If you have only read The Lost Hero and some of Son of Neptune, why are you in a Mark of Athena discussion? You might accidentally come across a spoiler or something.

I knew about Piper and had some debating material. I'm being careful of spoilers. I don't know why Mark of Athena showed up optional but it did. Risky chances, I know, but I don't really read all of them.

Haha, okay then.

If you really think you like Piper, list ten reasons you like her.

I have ten for Annabeth:

1. She's smart.

2. She is friendly.

3. She can be playful.

4. When she's dedicated to something, she'll stick with it.

5. She tried to make things up with her family (and it worked.)

6. She forgave Grover for Thalia.

7. She didn't go all boy crazy (like Piper) and waited 5 years to kiss Percy.

8. She didn't automatically write off Jason because he wasn't Percy.

9. She knew when to head on her own quest, even if it meant leaving the others for a little while.

10. She slapped some sense into Percy like 1,000,000 times!

So there. Take that Piper lovers.

BTW, I'm not comparing the two, I'm just showing what I could do with my favorite character.

Look, I wasn't challenging the Piper fandom, just asking a few questions. @Babafaba, how is she at all clever? She doesn't tell anyone anything.

Piper needs a bit more story. Everyone else including Jason had some sort of past to make the characters seem more real. Piper on the other hand has a life which most mortal teen celebrities have.

I myself have been teased and mocked by everyone, it's a natural aspect of some peoples life. Don't think she is the only one who gets teased and mocked.

FYI I do pay attention to the books.

I don't have any problems with Piper. I mean she is no Annabeth but I think that she is fine.
