Some characters are just so annoying that you pray to the gods that someone in the book will kill them off--hopefully in some gloriously original manner that causes the jerk tremendous agony.
Joffrey Baratheon comes to mind. Loved that scene in A Storm of Swords where he thrashes around as the Strangler takes his life.

Dolores Umbridge from Order of the Phoenix.

Kinda wish she would have gotten a spectacular GRR Martin style send off.

Pretty nasty for a kids book if you think about it, haha.

Admittedly I get the books mixed up with the movies, but in the books, (view spoiler)[was she just sent to Azkaban in the end (hide spoiler)]? There may have been more, but I can't recall now.

In the books she was (view spoiler)[ Dragged off by centaurs. In the end she's seen in a bed with glassy eyes and Ron makes a clopping noise and she startles. In mythology, centaurs were rapers of women. When J.K was asked about it, she just giggled sweetly and said nothing more. (hide spoiler)]

I do see the implication regarding the centaurs and their reputation in Greek mythology, but wouldn't that make Hermione complicit since she led her there?

That was just what I read online after me and my friend discussed it. Hermione might not have known exactly what they would do. Afterall, one of them was a teacher in a school full of teenagers for a while. Just wondering what else would explain her appearance in the infirmary afterwards.

That's what I was thinking, that the centaurs in the HP world seemed better than that, but maybe Firenze(sp?) was different than the others.

But if anyone knew Greek mythology it would be Hermione.

But if it came down to me dying or Umbridge having that happen, I'd have to save myself and live with any guilt.

Didn't Frienze(I dunno how to SP it either, haha) get banished by the centaurs at somepoint? Humans were scum to them if I remember.

Yeah, I think he was a bit of an outcast. And if I recall a lot of the girls at Hogwarts had a crush on him.

Haha, not the weirdest crush I've heard of. I mean, Hagrid was spawned somehow...

AAAAAA, I looooooooved Krycek. I have a conniption every time Nicholas Lea appears on another show. But I completely agree with the sentiment. He was such a little ratty rat rat. Ahahaha.

I love creating that kind of character. I think it's part of what makes a good villain.

Oh! I'm watching Orange Is the New Black (just finished Episode 10) and -- without spoilers -- Vee is just a horrible, horrible person. And it's like this slow build, where she just gets worse. And she stands there with that look on her face, and I just ... can't ... wait ... till she gets whatever's coming to her.

Also Mendez, but she's worse.

Jar Jar Binks should have died in a firey ball of pain.

Jar Jar Binks was a brilliant character.

He added humor to a sometimes dry movie, and you could always count on him for a plot twist.

My family disagrees with my assessment, but I don't care. Jar Jar RULES!

I don't think I hated a character more than that Joffrey Baratheon!

George R.R. Martin sure did manage to create some hateable (is that a word?) characters. Bolton pere et fils, Walder Frey ("I'll make you an APOLOGY..."): oooh, even now I want to see death rained down on them. And I am a very peaceful person (well, except in traffic...)

But I agree about Joffrey. Not much justice gets done (or lasts if done) in the Game of Thrones books, but there was just a little.

I have a character in one of my own books I can't wait to kill. I've been sitting pondering over it for days.

Sure, it would be sad to kill such a villain but oh boy would it make me feel good to see him dead! :>

I always get so sad when certain villains die. There's this line between "OMG, want this guy to live forever cause of the evil" and "OMG, want this guy to die super painfully cause of the evil." Hannibal Lector is the first. Joffrey is definitely the second.

I like to let my characters decide who lives and who dies. In my novel I thought my main character might a couple of times, but he ended up being ok. My characters often times prefer no one to die, but sometimes it happens anyway.
