Exactly! You get 3 if you read a BOTM and discuss in the months or which it was selected. Prior books don't count unfortunately. We also do seasonal reads and they are worth 10 for reading and discussing. There are two challenges currently active and you can get points there.
Also an annual read and randomized lists (if you want one, check out the folder titled randomized lists and add comment saying you want one. BW will then pick random list books for you to read. 2 points per book for reading those.
We have a lot going on so pick and choose what interests you. We are also happy to explain since I'm sure it seems overwhelming at first.

By then I might feel like I've got the hang of the points system and voting strategies too. It's all a bit baffling right now. But I know what to read this month, so that's all right then. :)

Sounds like a smart plan!

Are you talking about the challenge on the group page? I think people are doing it differently. I did mine based on all the books on the list but I think others only picked a select number. The way I set it up is I maxed out the dates so that it covers a long period of time so that people could track how many overall they read from the list. It's not the best way to track but the best I could set up on here given the limitations.

I can't remember the exact number of books on all editions. It's probably the number I listed on my challenge

I also realised that I have both read and unread books in my 1001-list. Clean up time. :P Better make a 1001-tbr list as well.

That's what I did because they wouldn't let me set the date to before 1996. I basically put the read date as 1996 for any book I had read prior to that time

I believe the exact number is 1305 books (checked and it is). I also chose a past date to use for ones I did not exactly recall. Like high school, college, etc and Then use what ever month showed up. Or Dec 31. I do like to reread those and get a set date when it works out for me.
Hi Leni you have an additional 3 points for reading and discussing The End of the Affair so total is 4
We still consider you have earned 4 points even if you have spent all again :)

Hi Leni,
Make sure to check out this end of year auction: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Leni, you don’t need to subtract, only add your points earned. Bookworm will let you know if you don’t have the 5 points to carry over.
So when I get to a computer to update everyone, I will add your fast point.
