The first link I found on YouTube about this film presented a scene with Matt Damon and Sam Shepard, which saddened me, as Sam Shepard passed away only a few days ago. I didn't know he was in this movie. That little bit of a conversation showed what a striking presence he was on screen. Here's the link to it: Sony Pictures Home Entertainment UK.

From those two trailers I gathered (the other you can see in our videos), it appears the movie might be interesting. The trailer revealed a bit too much of the storyline for my tastes, so if you prefer to know as little as possible before watching/reading anything, do not watch it.

I absolutely loved Cormac McCarthy's The Road (and if you haven't read it already, I would certainly like to encourage you to check the book and our threads about it, the links here: The Road). I hope I'll like this novel too.

As usual, your thoughts and impressions about the book and the movie are more than welcome!

Daniel Woodward | 28 comments I am not yet halfway through this book. I find it rather slow going. While I am reading it, I enjoy it. But it is not a book that calls out to me to pick it up, if you know what I mean. And every now and then McCarthy writes something jarring that snaps me out of the book, almost like he is waving his arms in the air begging for attention.

Alana (alanasbooks) | 730 comments I really enjoyed the book, but I had to do it on audio because McCarthy's dislike for punctuation and quotation marks drives me batty. Listening made it work, I could hear the lyrical poetry of it. I also really enjoyed the Spanish, since I haven't really gotten a chance to speak it lately. But there was enough Spanish that I imagine those without any experience with the language might have found it a bit cumbersome.

I didn't watch the movie (enjoyed the book well enough on its own) but I'm looking forward to continuing the trilogy. Has anyone else read the other two books?
