message 101: by Lexi (new)

Lexi I'm really slacking on my book. I'm struggling a bit to stay enaged. I will power through this weekend though.

message 102: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments I just started my insect book today but I will be done by Sunday. Sorry I fell behind a bit this week.

message 103: by Chava (new)

Chava | 1522 comments Completion: The Diving Bell and the Butterfly by Jean-Dominique Bauby with a butterfly on the cover. Finished 13th of August 2017

message 104: by Chava (new)

Chava | 1522 comments For the next stop (Fuerteventura (ES) - Bilbao (ES) ), do we spell Bilbao or do we do the detour: read a book that has a love triangle?

If we're spelling out, can I use L for Gone by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge?

I don't have love triangle books

message 105: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Yay! I am hoping to finish mine tomorrow...

message 106: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments So at our next stop, Bilbao (ES) we can

(a) read books set in that country or by an author of that country or
(b) complete a spell-it-out of that country or city

So we can read books set in El Salvador, or by authors from El Salvador OR
do a spell-it-out of Bilbao or El Salvador

Or the detour is read a book with a love triangle

I would vote for either spell-it-out or reading books set in El Salvador or by authors from El Salvador. What does everyone else want to do?

message 107: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments I know I am still working on my insect cover. How is everyone else doing on this stop?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments I vote the spell it out. Is it better points wise to do the shorter or longer word? I don't mind which one.

message 109: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments We don't get any extra points for more letters. As long as we have 6 letters and 6 team members reading for the task, we get the max task points. We get an extra 10 points if everyone reads that week.

I vote spell-it-out too. That's three I think (Chava, Lisa, Jenny). What does everyone else think?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments I can do any of these letters for the Spell It out with my next book.

S, B, T, C, R,L,N,W - May be more as I get through it.

message 111: by Jammin Jenny (last edited Aug 13, 2017 12:51AM) (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments I can do any of the following letters

B - Benchley, Peter The Deep by Peter Benchley
O or A - Obsidian (Lux, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I - In Touch How to Tune in to the Inner Guidance of Your Body and Trust Yourself by John J. Prendergast

The only letter I would rather not do is L

message 112: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 13, 2017 04:43AM) (new)

Spell it out is the best option for me as well.

Can I do O as I'm in a challenge in another group where I have to read 10 books with a title or author name beginning with O so I'm reading for that letter anyway?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments so, which word do we want to pick -

Bilbao or El Salvador? I don't mind either. I can do the L if we pick El Salvador. Or would it be better to do the shorter word. I can do a B there..

message 114: by [deleted user] (new)

I say Bilboa - we don't get anymore points for El Salvador and there are more letters than players so some members would have to read more than 1 book to complete the word.

message 115: by Chava (last edited Aug 13, 2017 07:22PM) (new)

Chava | 1522 comments Sounds great. So for the next stop we have:

B - Lisa
I - Jenny
L - Chava
B - Lexi
O - Pigletto
A - Abir

Correct?
I can try to fill A as well, if I really push myself with author Arlidge

message 116: by Lexi (new)

Lexi I can probably cover the other B. i have two options for that one.

message 117: by [deleted user] (new)

I can do the a with my next for for sure

message 118: by Bee (new)

Bee (abirbee) | 667 comments I'm still on my insect cover book, I'll finish tonight.
I can the A in the Bilboa.
I'll definitely do the A.
Arabic written books count, right?

message 119: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Yes any and all languages count.

message 120: by Lexi (new)

Lexi Completion: The Bees by Laline Paull - on 8/13/17 - fits insect on cover requirement.

Starting: City of Miracles (The Divine Cities, #3) by Robert Jackson Bennett - author's last name starts with "B"

message 121: by Chava (new)

Chava | 1522 comments Okay, off to the next stop then?

B - Lisa
I - Jenny
L - Chava
B - Lexi
O - Pigletto
A - Abir

message 122: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Did everyone read at least one book last week (if you didn't finish your insect book)?

I did. What about @Chava, @Eternity, @Abir?

If so, then we can claim 25 points for the insect detour, and 10 points for everyone reading.

Once we decide on the above, we can move on to our next stop.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments All good team. I'm starting my B book tonight.

I've having fun with this challenge. Hope you all are too.

Yes, I completed an insect book

message 125: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Sorry Chava. I meant Josie. :-)

I'm good to move on if you guys are.

And yes I am enjoying this challenge too Lisa. When we know if everyone on the team read a book this week, one of us can PM the NBRC Travel Agent and let them know our score for this stop (right now we are at 25 until we know if everyone read a book, then we can claim another 10 points).

message 126: by [deleted user] (new)

Wait, for a week don't we have the rest of today too? I'm almost finished of my book, I should be done by the end of today.

message 127: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments We can wait to move on to our next post until tomorrow...no worries.

So, we are still at Fuerteventura (ES), and will move on to Bilboa (ES) tomorrow...

@Josie and Abir, if you read a book between 8/7 and 8/14, just post what you read. If everyone read a book between those two dates, we'll claim 35 points. If not, we'll claim 25.

message 128: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments My insect book is "frozen" from my Cops & Robbers Challenge in AMMP group. So...I won't be able to finish that book this week. I did read other books though

message 134: by Josie (new)

Josie (josiemichele) | 96 comments Sorry for the late post I've been out of town. Finished the insect on the cover.

Strange the Dreamer
8/14/17

Since the spell it out is full I'll read a book with a love triangle for the detour. I know I have something on my bookshelf I just need to find it first.

message 135: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Great!

Way to go team! We earned 50 points at that stop. I'll PM the NBRC Travel Agent now.

message 136: by Bee (new)

Bee (abirbee) | 667 comments Okay I just finished my book for the spell it out.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Sorry, I told you I was spread sheet challenged. How do you get just the comment number to come up? Can someone fix it. Thanks.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Oh and for the next detour, A landmark on the cover, I have three different books that fit. Is anyone else able to do this detour?

message 140: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Lisa - (Aussie Girl) wrote: "Sorry, I told you I was spread sheet challenged. How do you get just the comment number to come up? Can someone fix it. Thanks."

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Lisa - (Aussie Girl) wrote: "Oh and for the next detour, A landmark on the cover, I have three different books that fit. Is anyone else able to do this detour?"

I can do landmark Directive 99 by Judith Rolfs

message 142: by Chava (new)

Chava | 1522 comments Completion post
Gone (Michael Bennett, #6) by James Patterson for letter L (author)

message 143: by Chava (new)

Chava | 1522 comments The Games by James Patterson for landmark (Rio de Jenero - the statue in the background). Is that one okay?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Thanks Jenny for the fix up.

So for landmarks, we have Jenny, Chava and Lisa. We just need at least one more.

I have The Last Tudor (The Plantagenet and Tudor Novels, #14) by Philippa Gregory by Phillipa Gregory - The Tower of London.

message 145: by [deleted user] (new)

I can do landmark

message 146: by Lexi (new)

Lexi I am pretty sure this book has Oxford on the cover. Does that count? A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

message 147: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Yep that's a famous landmark! Looks like a good book too!

message 148: by [deleted user] (new)

Lexi wrote: "I am pretty sure this book has Oxford on the cover. Does that count? A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness"

That definitely looks like Oxford. The building with the dome (the one that doesn't have a white building beneath it) looks like the Bodleian.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments That's great everyone. So Landmarks is a go..
