Awesome! I'm ready when you are...just keep me on track with dates and let me know what I need to do besides post!

I'm in St. Louis...Central Time. I'm a Real Estate agent...so I'm approaching my 'down time' and I love to fill it with reading. I do do multiple challenges at a time...one of my challenges is to find the same book for both challenges if I can...hehe! Look forward to working with and getting to know you all.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Welcome Tammie. Happy that you're joining us. A few challenge addicts among us...so you're in good company.

Hi Tammie,
So nice of you to join our travel group! Welcome!!
I also try to read books for multiple challenges if possible. So far so good :)
I'm in Australia, so our time zones will be quite a challenge. In this group, we seem to be in all corners of the world :)

message 357: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments @Chava/@Lisa...thanks for the Welcome! Travel is my second favorite hobby so to speak...next to reading. I have a bit of that going on in October as well...hope to fit in some longer books for this month...hopefully the 'challenge stars align themselves.' :)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments HI all! We have our business travel itinerary...

business itinerary

Our first stop is Aberdeen in Scotland. Our choices are

Spell-it-out: Aberdeen or Scotland
OR
Detour: read a book with a pair of glasses on the cover

We get more points for the detour and it seems like a pretty easy one to do so I vote for detour. What does everyone else feel like?

message 359: by Tammie (last edited Sep 30, 2017 07:42AM) (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments Oh...I have Scotland on my list to visit someday soon!

I have an 'S' (ideal) or I have 'glasses' too....could probably do any letter for that matter.
Can someone remind me of the minimum page count please? Thanks!

Sweet Desperado (Destiny Bay The Ranchers, #3; Western Lovers Reckless Renegades, #41) by Helen Conrad Glasses
Shades of Twilight by Linda Howard S or L

message 360: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments I believe the minimum page count is 125 pages.

message 361: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments I can read

The Art of Happiness by Dalai Lama XIV

it works for A and glasses

message 362: by Bee (new)

Bee (abirbee) | 667 comments I'll get back to you on the glasses, I have to check my list first. But I'm game. It's gonna be fun

Welcome aboard Tammie!

There isn't a minimum page requirement for this challenge.

message 364: by [deleted user] (new)

I can do a book with glasses.

message 365: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments @Pigletto
Thanks! I'll find the rules and read them...I appreciate the info!

message 366: by Josie (new)

Josie (josiemichele) | 96 comments Okay so for glasses on the cover, I have a person wearing glasses but that’s the best I can do. So I can reread (even though it’s been a long while) Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire for that detour. If we do the spell it out I have the T for Scotland with The Traitors Kiss.

message 367: by Lisa - (Aussie Girl) (last edited Sep 30, 2017 03:41PM) (new)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Lovely, lovely Scotland... What a coincidence that I just visited although didn't get to Aberdeen.

And even better my current book has glasses on the cover so if it works for everybody my vote is for the detour. Archangel's Viper (Guild Hunter, #10) by Nalini Singh

message 368: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Looks like the majority of us can do glasses so we'll do the detour this stop. We get more points that way and our business class booking lets us do 5 detours throughout our trip. So, I"ll update the spreadsheet to reflect the detour information.

@Tammi we usually spend 7 days at each stop, so we should try to get our books done by next Saturday. It's fine if it slips a bit - there aren't really any strict deadlines.

message 369: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments I should be able to finish by then.
Is my post 359 good enough for a selction post?

Thanks for your help...

message 370: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Yes that's fine. We don't really do selection posts unless you want to get confirmation of a cover item or something like that. It's really a pretty relaxing challenge!

message 371: by Chava (new)

Chava | 1522 comments About Bob is my read. It's super short as I have a crazy 2 weeks ahead of me. I'll try to keep up

message 372: by Lexi (new)

Lexi I was camping all weekend and got absolutely no signal. I am back though and I found a book with a man (demon?) wearing glasses.

message 373: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Great! Seems like we are all a go for glasses!

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Finished my glasses book Archangel's Viper (Guild Hunter, #10) by Nalini Singh

message 376: by Bee (new)

Bee (abirbee) | 667 comments when is the dead line for that??? Just to be on time, It's one of those crazy weeks and I don't want to loose us points

There's no hard and fast deadline. Try to get it done by Sunday so we can leave for our next destination on Monday. If you can't get it done by then, just post when you think you'll have it done and we can wait. No worries. Stress-free challenge!

message 379: by Lexi (new)

Lexi I think I will finish my book late (local time) tomorrow. I will include my edition in the completion post.

message 380: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments I probably won't get mine done until Saturday...

message 381: by Bee (new)

Bee (abirbee) | 667 comments Okay I just finished something that was on my hands. Just in case I don't make it on Sunday, we still get points I hope
Hope's Chance by Jennifer Foor

message 382: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Yes we'll still get points :)

message 383: by Chava (new)

Chava | 1522 comments Hi all,
I'll be off line for the next 3 days, but back on Saturday night (AEST).
Loving this group btw! This game has made me want to buy the real Clue.
Enjoy the rest of your day/night and week!
Chava

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Enjoy your offline time Chava. Are you going somewhere restful or flying on business?

message 385: by Lexi (new)

Lexi I finished Good Omens. There were sunglasses on the cover.

message 386: by Lexi (new)

Lexi Here is my real completion post that isn't sent from my phone while I'll lying in bed. :)

Read Good Omens The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett on 10/5/17.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Haha Lexi. I'm doing exactly the same thing at the moment. Having a cup of tea while checking Goodreads with my book beside me . Heaven.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Having a look forward to next week's task it is Gassam in Saudi Arabia. Or the detour is Read a book with a body part in the title?

I thought the detour might be a bit tricky but I actually found two books fitting the task on my TBR. Etched in Bone (The Others, #5) by Anne Bishop or The Alabaster Hip (The Regency Romp Trilogy, #3) by Maggie Fenton . So I'm good with the detour if that's what the team decides.

message 389: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments I'm good with the detour if we decide to go that route.

message 390: by Bee (new)

Bee (abirbee) | 667 comments I'm good with both. So just let me know

message 391: by Chava (last edited Oct 07, 2017 06:42AM) (new)

Chava | 1522 comments I'd love to find a book from Saudi Arabia, but I'm fine with a body part.

message 392: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments I'm good with reading a book from Saudi Arabia if we go that route. We actually haven't done any reading for the countries we've visited yet so that might be a nice change of pace.

message 393: by Chava (new)

Chava | 1522 comments Jenny wrote: "I'm good with reading a book from Saudi Arabia if we go that route. We actually haven't done any reading for the countries we've visited yet so that might be a nice change of pace."

Yeah, I'll need some help finding one here... Australia isn't the best with accessing books from the Middle East

message 394: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments We could do spell it out and whoever wanted to could pick a book from Middle East that worked for spelling

Do we get more points for detour? This detour seems easier than others I think

message 395: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Yes we get more points for detour, and some of the others are more difficult I agree.

So far looks like we are leaning toward detour at this stop.

@Chava, do you have Kindle Unlimited in Australia? If so, you can search for "Saudi Arabia" and filter by Kindle Unlimited and get a list of books you can read for free.

message 396: by Chava (new)

Chava | 1522 comments No we dont :(

message 397: by [deleted user] (new)

I can do detour or spell out.

message 398: by [deleted user] (new)

Finished

The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 ¾ by Sue Townsend
7th October

message 399: by Josie (new)

Josie (josiemichele) | 96 comments Finished my book for sunglasses on the cover. I don’t have any book from Saudi Arabia and I have no way to read it for free. Ugh. So I will have to go with detour or spell it out.

message 400: by Jammin Jenny (last edited Oct 07, 2017 11:40AM) (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4185 comments Looks like I'm last to finish this week's book. I'll be done by tomorrow night so we can take off for our next stop on Monday 12:01 am EST.

In the meantime, looks like we are opting for either detour or spell it out. Let's vote.

My vote

1st pref. Detour - body part in title
2nd pref. Spell-it-out City Gassim
3rd pref: Spell-it-out Country: Saudi Arabia
4th pref; book set in or by an author from Saudi Arabia
