Lala (lalalila) I'm having a hard time reading fantasy books. I really want to give it a try but when I'm looking for a fantasy book to read I can't find anything that seems interesting.
I wonder if someone could recommend some good fantasy books that's pretty easy to read. I would prefer if it wasn't a very long book serie and I won't read The hunger games.

..... | 7 comments The infernal devices by Cassandra Clare
My fair godmother series by Janette Rallison
My lady jane by Cynthia Hand
Creepy Hollow series by Rachel Morgan
Angelfall by Susan Ee
Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
You can check these out if you want....there are both fantasy and paranormal books included
Hope you find something to your liking! :)

Heidi Angell (heidiangell) | 38 comments Well, the trick to finding good fantasy is to know what you like. Sounds like you aren't a fan of Epic Fantasy (too long and complex.)

Dark fantasy is a good ride, if you like the lines of good and evil blurred.

Urban fantasy brings a lot of the story to modern times while incorporating fantastical elements such as werewolves, vampires, elves, quests, magic, witches, faries in modern times, These tend to be easier in that the world building doesn't need so much work.

and then there's the fairytale re-tellings. If you like the classic Grimm (or Disney) stories with a twist, this might be the right subgenre for you.

Fantasy is very complex and not all types of fantasy are for everyone. Give us an idea of what you've tried before and what you did/ did not like about it. (FYI, Hunger Games isn't actually fantasy, it's Dystopian Sci-fi as it takes place in a horrible future version of our world.)

From there, perhaps we can point you in a good direction.

Maria (mariasaleem) | 882 comments I want to introduce fanatsy to my cousin (she's the only one of my cousins who's a reader) and she has a probelm with series. So I'd love some recommendations for standalone fantasy books!
