Donna (donnalalala) | 9 comments I really like books in which there is a rebellion (with the main character being on the rebellion side). I also like it when the main character is female, but that isn't a necessity (yes I googled how to spell that). Also political schemes are definitely (googled that too) a big plus.

I really liked:

Rebel of the Sands (and Traitor to the Throne of course)

Red Queen

The Young Elites

The Orphan Queen

Shanna_redwind | 852 comments Here's a bunch of YA books with that theme. The series often don't get into the rebellion part until the end of book one.

Red Rising
Legend
Delirium
The Testing
Uglies
Eve
Revolution 19
Matched

Keith | 224 comments Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan - "Flintlock fantasy" in which a general overthrows his country's monarchy.
The Dread Empire's Fall trilogy by Walter Jon Williams (first book The Praxis) has the protagonists initially facing a rebellion/coup/civil war, but later the female lead takes charge of an insurgency against the opposing side when they take control of the capital.

Wyatt's Hurricane has a rebellion on a Caribbean island that is taking place during a hurricane. It's dated (it was written back in the mid-1960's) but gives a realistic feel for the time.

Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
The Bone Doll Twin by Lyn Flewelling

All three are trilogies, and the rebellions don't tend to start in book 1.

Gillian | 342 comments The Shadow Children series by Margaret Peterson Haddix. It starts with Among the Hidden. It's YA, though, and the main character is a boy.
