I've been getting way too many requests for an audio book. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and look into producing one. The funny thing is that I have been on radio (local and national public radio) for about ten years and have the equipment and know how to do it. I've just hesitated.
I've got two books. I think I'm leaning towards trying the fractured fairy tale first (A Climbing Stock).
Does anyone have any experience with the creation of audiobooks? Any suggestions/warnings and as the thread title suggests... when I get there, does anyone have interest in being a test listener?
I just began the process of putting my first book on audible. I've been listening to narrators and have found the one I want. Go to the act site. You can get info on how to do this. You have the option of doing everything yourself and uploading your finished product. I am also a huge listener of audiobooks. since I began writing I find it difficult to keep up with all the books I want to read. I usually have one I'm reading on kindle and one I'm listening to. It passes the time while I'm driving, cooking or cleaning. I'd be happy to listen and give you feedback. Actually, my background is in theater arts. I chose not to perform my own book though.
Thanks for the offer and insights. I understand why you are reluctant to voice your own books. It's probably for the same reason I never wanted direct my own plays.
