Though we had low attendance, which is telling, the folks who did come to book club quite enjoyed Faulkner's novel giving it a 4.375 out of 5 stars. The idea was shared that Faulkner really wanted to communicate the "feeling" of the South. Well, though I find he does manage a powerful communication of feeling, I personally am somewhat alienated by the purgatorial aspects of the work. Though, now that I think about it, that may also become for me its redeeming quality.
