The exact number of pixel isn't all that important, although it could be closer to reality (333x500).
What is important to get a decent looking cover is the width/height ratio. On that subject, the librarian's book has got it wrong by a fair margin. The values should be changed to reflect that a 2x3 (2 wide for 3 up) ratio is best for this site and most other sites as well.
(granted it is somewhat unlikely that an author will check here first for that information ... but the information in the librarian's manual should reflect reality ,,, or possibly the answer here is to remove that section).
