Classics and the Western Canon discussion

For the past few months, Everyman and I have been discussing the need for a new moderator, and with Laurel stepping down this need has become more pressing. After careful consideration and cajoling of the candidates, I am pleased to announce that we have not one new moderator, but two!

Most of us know Tamara and David from recent discussions, so they don't need additional introduction on my part. I can only say that I have been impressed by the way both of them consistently bring new ideas to the discussion and enhance the quality of the conversation. I am delighted that they have decided to help out with moderation duties. We can all look forward to great discussion leadership from them both.

Please welcome David and Tamara as our new moderators.

I am absolutely delighted then David and Tamera have agreed to join the moderating crew, and look forward to everyone here welcoming them warmly and helping them work into the process.

You will notice that Thomas need the actual announcement. This does not mean that I am going anywhere, but in the past few weeks I have been dealing with a Health situation which has caused me to have to turn much of the heavy lifting in the group temporarily over to Thomas, and now to the new moderators.

I am enormously grateful two the whole moderating crew, and especially to Thomas for stepping in and carrying the load while I am, I sincerely hope, only very temporarily focusing most of my attention on health issues. I am able to monitor things and perhaps to a little bit of posting from the Hospital on a small tablet computer, but you will find that most of the work is being done for now by the others, and I hope that all members of the group will warmly welcome and support them.

I am intentionally not talking about this situation publicly, in order not to distract from the activity in the group. The moderators are, I hope, adequately informed about the situation, but beyond that I would ask that group members not engage in speculation or sympathy (I don't do sympathy) but simply focus on continuing to make this one of the greatest groups on Goodreads.

And when I do manage to get online, please forgive any errors as the result of tiny keyboard and fat fingers.

Everyman, I do know about typing on tiny gadgets. I hope your detour is but a speedy blip and that soon you will be looking out your usual window with the amazing view and typing on a more sizable computer. I agree that Tamara and David will make great new moderators as I have found their comments both interesting and insightful! Tamara and David, so happy to have you as additional moderators! Carry on!
