Kristie | 5929 comments Time To Get Creative!!

For this challenge you create a story using the book titles for books that you want to read.

For the avid reader, you can choose to do this challenge monthly for all the books you are planning to read in a month.

Or, you can choose to create a story using the top books that you want to read throughout the year (maybe choose your top ten books, for example, whatever number works for you) and work them into a story.

After you create the story, you can list the books below and check them off as you go or just bold them within the story as you read them.

See posts 2 & 3 for further instructions and an example.

Kristie | 5929 comments Helpful hints

In order to add a link to the book, click the "add book/author" link on top of your comment box. Do a search for your book and click "add" next to the correct book. The link is automatically set to add the title of the book (as in my story below).

If you want to add covers as book links (some people add the covers to the bottom of their challenge / story as they complete the books instead of having a list.), you can change it after you click "add book/author". At the bottom of the little window that opens you just click on "cover" instead of "title".

Also, at the top of the comment box there is another link that says "(some html is ok)". If you click on that, it will explain how to add bold, italics, underline, spoiler tags, etc.

For anyone using an app instead of the online version, you will not be able to add book links. However, you can still participate.

You can copy and paste the following symbols, if you want to use them for your challenge. ✔ ✘ ✭ ❒

After you have created your challenge, you can edit it as you complete your books by clicking the "edit" on the bottom, right of your comment. That way you can update your challenge as you go. After you complete your challenge, you can start a new one if you choose to.

If you need more help, please let me know and I'll try to add more instructions as needed.

Kristie | 5929 comments This is an example of a story that I created for all the books I plan to read in July. (Clearly, I am not an author, lol, so be kind!) If this were my story for the whole year, I would simply change the duration dates. Have fun creating your stories!! :)

Duration: 7/1/14-7/31/14
Completed: 0/5

My Name is Rapunzel and I would like to tell you a short story about what happened to me on my 16th birthday. I had always wanted to meet my father, but he was a Dead Beat dad. He was never around for me. When I turned 16, I decided to go looking for him. I found him in a bar, fighting with a woman and realized that he was Vicious. I had held an image of him in my mind all these years and it was Shattered. I ran away as fast as I could go with tears in my eyes. All of a sudden, I realized that I was lost! How would I get home? Suddenly, there in the distance, I saw it. The Light Between Oceans. I knew where I was! I ran home and straight to my bed. I would never again search for the man that had no place in my life.

Books to read:
My Name is Rapunzel
Dead Beat
Vicious
Shattered
The Light Between Oceans

My experience during The Haunting of Hill House was A Midsummer Night's Scream. I was told that We Need to Talk About Kevin because he found a creepy Heart-Shaped Box at the time. It looks like something straight out of a Ghost Story.

Books to read:
The Haunting of Hill House
A Midsummer Night's Scream
We Need to Talk About Kevin
Heart-Shaped Box
Ghost Story

Eldarwen | 5004 comments One by One they all came out of the theater where they had enjoyed an early evening show of a The Great Gatsby. However, the night was by far not over for the Moon Called as The Night Circus was currently in town. Stunned Silence befell the crowd when their eyes fell on the view that presented itself, before they all raced towards the offered entertainment with huge smiles on their faces. Even those Halfway to the Grave could not resist a youthful squeal here and there. The night was still young and who knew what it would bring them!

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Actually made it!
I'm so not good with giving myself certain titles to read because I keep changing what I want to read next. Nevertheless, it worked out!
Hopefully for everyone else, too! :-)
