Quantum (quantumkatana) Where do you walk?

I walk to the library, which is about 40 minutes one way, but that's only once a week!

I decided to do a 5k run in October. My aunt told me about it. She's going to also.

Leonie (leonierogers) | 1579 comments I try and walk 10,000 steps per day. A couple of times a week I do a 4km hill walk, and usually another walk at least once. I also do an interval on an exercise bike twice a week if I can :-)

Holly (goldikova) | 12 comments I never really added it up; but now that I think about it......

The barn is a quarter mile from the house, minimum of three round trips daily, plus a daily dog walk, one to two miles and maybe another quarter mile just walking around the barn doing chores.

Average of maybe three miles per day; I should get a pedometer and find out.

Rita Chapman | 156 comments You're going well Holly. I walk about three kilometres three or four times a week - I play tennis the other three days. But then, I'm retired, I have the time!

Neil Carstairs | 53 comments A little over two years ago the office I worked in closed and I started working from home. This has cut the amount of walking I used to do. Trotting up and down three flights of stairs to visit different departments was a decent workout that no longer exists. I do walk the dog, but for every thirty minutes we're out I'm standing and watching her sniff at some scent or other for twenty minutes. Does anyone know if standing still is good for you?

Rita Chapman | 156 comments I saw something recently that said you could lose weight just by standing. Can't see it somehow.

My dog is the same way! Sometimes I am tempted to take a book along on our walks so the sniffing spells won't be so boring for me (he is obviously fascinated). I see rabbits all the time and he misses them because his nose is to the ground.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 8073 comments I wonder sometimes about what's happening in my dog's brain when she spends so much time sniffing other dogs' or animals' markings. She's so riveted by this that she must be getting something important from it. How much can she tell about each previous animal from its leavings? Type of animal, male or female, alpha or not, how long ago the animal was here? I guess I'll never know.
