Kate S | 6459 comments October 15, 1917 - World War I spy Mata Hari was executed by a French firing squad at Vincennes Barracks, outside Paris. Read a non-fiction book about spying or any book shelved at least 20 times as spy.

Please post any questions, comments, or recommendations for 10.2 in this thread.

Rebekah (bekalynn) can the shelf also read Thriller- spy, Spy- Thriller, Espionage- Spy etc?

Yes - GR combines those, and those will qualify.

Coralie | 2757 comments So, could I use Manners & Mutiny which is shelved 23 times as espionage but only 19 times as spy
and The Jennifer Morgue shelved 31 times as espionage and 19 as spy?

No, I'm sorry if I misled you. Often in the genres section on the main page, some shelves will be combined. In the case of these two, there aren't enough shelved as spy. (But do you have a "spy" shelf for these?)

Coralie | 2757 comments I must admit I am tempted to add a spy shelf to boost them over the line. It would be a pity to miss out on the Charles Stross one in particular. I will see how my reading goes.

Rebekah (bekalynn) This is the book I had in mind when I posted question. The Day of the Jackal On the main page it has a shelf Spy Thriller>Espionage that has been used 136 times.
But now I see it was shelved as Spy 87 times, but I just wanted to make sure in case I came up on others that had spy as part of combined name for a shelf.

Karin This is why sometimes it's main page and sometimes how many times--makes sense!

message 9: by Louise Bro (new)

Louise Bro | 477 comments I am wondering if I can use Blind Man's Bluff: The Untold Story of American Submarine Espionage which has been shelved as "Spy Thriller > Espionage" 27 times?

Yes.

Louise Bro | 477 comments Yay!

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14230 comments Louise Bro wrote: "Yay!"

It's because it's a non-fiction about spying, rather than the shelving.

Louise Bro | 477 comments Oh, that makes sense, I forgot about the first part of the challenge! Thanks for reminding me :-)

Cat (cat_uk) | 303 comments Can I combine "spy" and "spies"?

To Catch an Heiress has 12 spy shelvings and 10 spies shelvings....

[hopeful grin]

Yes - hopeful grin can move to a Cheshire cat face.
