Jane (PS) | 24334 comments 1. Introduce yourself to your team. Let your team members know where you are from. This is a 'nice to know' when categories are announced and when team-mates can expect other members to post their book choices.

2. Team Captain - reserve a couple of posts in this thread tracking your team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert a chat comment to the tracking post/s.)

3. Name your team. Using this round's theme of CANDY LAND, come up with a fun name. Given we are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)

Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by 6 September.

4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2.

5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including links to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!

* don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full in that post.

You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.

I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.

Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.

6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you expect to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation.

7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.

8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.

9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)

10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A Annoucement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.

The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week Option 2 has altered and I will be allocating each team another team from which their book selection must be chosen :)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Key selection and completion post information. You must have ALL elements in your book posts.

For the initial selection post Option 1 I need:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
How the book qualifies - please insert a link to the qualifying bookshelf/list.
If the theme is based off the bookcover or a letter in the title etc, please just repeat the theme.

For the initial selection post Option 2 I need:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
Name of the team-member, their star rating, the date they read the book.

For the completion post I need:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Rating (1-5)
Review

Please DO NOT CHAT in these selction/completion posts. It needs to be super clear.

If you 'waffle' about your decided book - please REPOST your selection once you decide. DO NOT go back and edit your waffling post.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I'll be tracking each team's progress separately, using the Captain's summary in each team's thread to check for accuracy.

Lisa (mooselover) | 2724 comments Hey Julia.

I am Lisa and I live in London, England.
I have played several round of PtP its one of only 2 challenges I participate in.
I am the Challenge Mod for team challenges in another group so that keeps me busy.

message 9: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (mooselover) | 2724 comments Looks like the team are mostly MM readers with some reading MF as well.
Lots of Lovely shelves to pick from.

We need to think of a team name.
Do we want to go with the candy theme?
eg A Team of Smarties

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 88 comments Hi team, this is my second time playing and I enjoyed myself. I'm up this early on a Saturday getting ready to participate in a 3K Bubble Run. Pray for me.

message 11: by Wax (new)

Wax (waxapplelover) | 337 comments Hi everyone! I'm in the Houston area (Texas, USA). Tamika, I heard that bubble runs are fun (and messy); wishing you luck. :)

As for team names, I'm good with anything.

~Melissa~ | 2097 comments Hey everyone!! I've played a couple of times ~ looking forward to starting this round. I'm from the Chicagoland area.

@Tamika - good luck with your bubble run.
@Wax - hope you and your family are all okay.
@Leisha - hey I think we just did a team challenge together recently - last PtP maybe.....or MM bingo.
@Lisa - I'm amazed with all the fun monthly bonus games you keep coming up with in the Ult Challenge :)

I'm not great at names but I'll see if I can think of some for us.

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 88 comments Hi!!! Thanks everyone. I completed my 5K walk in hour. I'm really happy I did this. Signing up for my next walk in November.

A few names I thought of....nothing earth shattering :)

Headed for the Candy Castle
Pass the Candy
In Search of Candy
Queen Frostine Readers
Watch Out for the Swamp

Tamika♥RBF MOOD♥ | 88 comments How does a team of smarties relate to candy? Just wondering.

message 17: by Wax (last edited Sep 03, 2017 03:43PM) (new)

Wax (waxapplelover) | 337 comments Tamika, I'm not sure if you're joking or not (hard to tell with written words), but Smarties are candy. :) It may only be a thing in the US?

Yes!!! I read the first 3 or 4 and for me personally they were soooo long. Then someone said James Marsters did the audio and I've been hooked ever since. Love it ~ so good on audio. There are certain series that I always save my audible credits for and this is definitely one of them :D

I'm good with planning ~ personally the only one that would be hard for me is Y. Pretty sure I can find something for the other letters :)

Circle (Roads, #3) by Garrett Leigh
4 stars
Date read:09/09/17

We are back with Ash and Pete in what I think is the final instalment in their story.
The two have been together for years but something is not right with their relationship.
Its quite a long way into the book before we know whats wrong and it takes a roadtrip to bring it out.
There is a lot of Jed and Max in this book, they were the couple from Only Love but I didn't realize that as I was reading.
A nice story but it didn't leave me teary as so many Garrett Leigh books do.

Another good book in the series. The issues that came between Lenny and Brook felt realistic and not just added for the sake of the story. Loved seeing the characters from previous books as well.

Review: well Harry is back, with a body this time and the full mantle of the Winter Knight. He has gone through months of physical therapy, been introduced at court on his birthday no less.....and been given his first task as the Winter Knight. The games are afoot. Harry reunites with his friends while attempting to defeat the bad guys and save the day. Things never turn out how you think and this one was no different. This series just continues to get better and better. The only problem is the next one is the last available for a while :( Butcher has just started writing Peace Talks - that's the only problem with being all caught up with a series ...the waiting

Week 1 ~ Option 1: Chase the Storm
9/10/17
3 stars

I enjoyed most of this book, but I really couldn't get passed Chase's behavior. Yes, I know why he was such a jerk... but he was just such a jerk. And why the heck did Elijah let Chase get away with that crap? It's one thing to be understanding, but another to be a doormat. Despite all that, there were some great scenes that got me pretty emotional.
