Nancy (paper_addict) | 812 comments Unless you have a blog with 500+ followers and post regularly and your posts generate comments and retweets, you probably won't get a book from Harlequin.

Char | 17459 comments Oh my gosh, what was I thinking yesterday?
Dark Screams anthologies, Halloween Carnival anthologies.
Someone needs to block Net Galley and Edelweiss from my browser! I'll have to hire someone to go and post the reviews for me so I don't accidentally see what they have on offer.

Did you just fall into the black hole that is Netgalley?! Back away while you can.

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 1471 comments @Lena Harlequin finally approved me for a book earlier this summer and I felt so special but it turned out to be only 1/3 of the book! I wasn't feeling so special after that, only annoyed. The author was super kind and mailed me a hard copy which I still need to finish . . .

Too late. I was sucked in for four more books. I take the blame off of my shoulders and place it squarely on yours.

Lena | 2673 comments It's only right.

message 60: by Char (new)

Char | 17459 comments Yep. Why should you escape book free, Ken, when all the rest of us are burdened? ;)

I swear if I didn't switch over from buying physical books to downloading most everything a few years ago, my house would've ended up on an episode of Hoarders!

message 62: by Lena (new)

Lena | 2673 comments Lol, I just recently switched back.

I do both. It's ridiculous!

I'm tough, I can take it :) We tried to warn you . . .

Char | 17459 comments Both my physical and electronic shelves are overflowing.

Yet, I'm still planning on going to that book festival next month. Yep-that's right, even though I already own more books than I can possibly read in what's left of my life I am going to go and enthusiastically buy more!

My name is Charlene and I'm a bookaholic.

message 66: by Kat (new)

Kat Hey, what book festival and where? I'm a bookaholic too!

message 67: by Teri (new)

Teri | 28 comments I'm right there with you guys. Just donated a large box of books to the library. The bi-annual library sale starts tomorrow - guess where I'm going? It's a vicious, yet totally necessary cycle.

Kenneth McKinley | 1717 comments Mod
The problem with me is that I buy a crap-ton of books, but none of them ever make it to a garage sale or donated to a library. It's like I can't part with ANY of them. My kids, who like to run around here rough housing with reckless abandon, know that I'll rip their limbs off one by one if they as so much touch one of my books with anything other than extreme care. Sigh!

message 69: by Lena (new)

Lena | 2673 comments Kids need there own books. Kids hands are always sticky.

My kids are outfitted with shock collars. You'd be surprised at how effective it is. It's simply a matter of voltage. ;-)

Walked away without buying a single book - not by choice, but because I was running late for an appointment. First time that's happened!

Lena | 2673 comments UPDATED LIST
Since we are confessing our book issues...
I recently discovered these:
https://darkregions.com
http://subterraneanpress.com
http://www.earthlingpub.com/books.php
http://tartaruspress.com/hardbacks.html
http://www.cemeterydance.com/cemetery...

I've bought two books in two days...
I've heard not eating is, like, the best diet.
I just need coffee and books.
Picture me skinny with a cinnamon dolce and my gorgeous books.

Kenneth McKinley | 1717 comments Mod
I've lost count. I've been like a drunken sailor on shore leave lately, when it comes to buying books.

message 86: by Char (new)

Char | 17459 comments I'm thinking of petitioning Goodreads to add a "I want to read" button that will automatically add all the books except romances to my TBR. It would make things so much easier!!

I recently received a box of books from Cemetery Dance and on Saturday I received the MUCH awaited: The Listener. I almost lost my damn mind.

I literally will not live long enough to read everything I've purchased and yet, here I am still buying!

message 88: by Char (new)

But let's not talk about that...

Char | 17459 comments I'm not used to getting physical ARCS, these are my first. I posted the picture of The Listener. While what's written surely makes me feel special, I'm wondering if this is a usual thing-no real cover or anything?

Still...how freaking EXCITED AM I?? VERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 95: by Lena (new)

Lena | 2673 comments So make that four books from three of those different specialty sites. My shame box grows!

Char you are super special to receive such things and I like that you know to appreciate it!

Rachel Bea (gekrepten) | 1761 comments i wish physical ARCs were more of a thing (I understand why they're not!) because i haaate ebooks but i want to read new books and leave reviews! lol

message 98: by Lena (new)

Lena | 2673 comments Slowly this happening to our shelves...

On a lighter note, I just realized all of the four fancy books I ordered are by female authors. Ladies are bringing it!

message 99: by Char (last edited Sep 19, 2017 12:36PM) (new)

Char | 17459 comments Sweet!!

I actually need more shelves. I wish I had some nice once like that!

All of this stuff didn't stop me from haunting NetGalley this morning!
I have a list of authors I search almost daily for. Right now those are:

Christopher Buehlman
Michael Rowe
Rio Youers
Owen King (I'm trying to get a Sleeping Beauties, but I don't see that happening!)
Joe Lansdale
Robert McCammon

Do you guys do this? LOL

message 100: by Lena (new)

Lena | 2673 comments I keep seeing Joe's name on those fancy sites, what have you read of him that you love so much?
