Krista the Krazy Kataloguer (kristathekrazykataloguer) | 18 comments I just finished the book. I have to admit that, while I couldn't put it down, I didn't like it quite as well as I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because I'm so anxious to know how she became a poet and writer, and I was hoping this book would get into that, and it didn't.

Krista the Krazy Kataloguer (kristathekrazykataloguer) | 18 comments I actually had a dream about the people in this book a couple of nights after I read it. I guess it had more of an impact on me than I thought. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how different black urban culture is from black rural culture.

ms.all sunday | 1 comments For me this was a very interesting book as it demonstraded an afro-american woman's struggle with life. Her expectations, hopes, dreams were shaped mostly by the environment. Being inside her head opened a new window for me. I was delightened with the way her mind operates, she always tried to make the best of what she has and never stopped dreaming. Also the ending was actually climax of the book in my opinion, Throub and her brother were among the best things about this book, i was moved by the way they care about her. Beacuse it seems, showing someone your worst side to save them by disregarding the fact that they may leave you is the real love.
