Finally finally starting this. The description sounds a bit like Throne of Glass in my opinion. Is that just me?
Anyway really looking forward to reading this.
I'm borrowing it from a friend and she's been asking for it back :/
But it sounds interesting and I think I'm going to enjoy it.

Oh i didnt notice that... but I can see how especially with the whole barely escaping with her life and becoming an assassin.

I haventreal,y gkt far so far, only on chapter 5, so far it is jnteresting and I think ill like it. Just getting used to the writing (havent gotten alot of time tl read :/ so its a bit confusing, so hoping ill be able to pick up soon and read alot of it, I think then ill be enjoying it more)

"Byss, yes," the girl nodded. "Think of the terror you'd instill. Being bested by a foe wielding a sword called Souldrinker... that you could live with. Imagine the shame of having the piss smacked out of you by a blade called Fluffy."

Heyo so I've read about 7 chapters. And I'm just not really feeling it. I'm sorry. I don't think I'm gonna continue. I may come back to it later but for now I'm saying goodbye to this book.

Ohm it's ok. I'm sorry you didn't like it. It took me a while to get into it, was also tempted to stop.

I'm on chapter 22, and trying my best to finish, I get into it sometimes but get confused alot, but it is getting better

Thanks RainySun. I think I'll try picking it up again though. There's been a couple of books where the first time around I can't get into it but I give it another shot and I end up really enjoying it. I think I'm just not in the mood right now.

Chapter 22

Chapter 1-5 (view spoiler)[ so I am interested in the book but am so freaking frustrated. I understand in made up worlds there is also a lot of made up words but i feel like there are sooo many right from the very beginning I am having a hard time understanding it all!. Is Maw like God? Nevernight , is that a quantity of nights? a special night?
I am liking the relationship so far between Tric and Mia. Very antagonistic but light hearted. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 6-10 (view spoiler)[ ok so Mia and trim make it to the mountain to start their training, Neva actually does make it through and is able to be healed. So this place is like a training for all assassins. Of course she kind of cheats and uses her shadow power, so the teacher cuts off her arm 😳😳😳😳... who does that, little excessive in my opinion. Chapter 11-18 (view spoiler)[ so we are still on this journey with Mia as she trains to be his super assassin. I swear the methods that these people use are sort of ridiculous. She uses a gift that she has and they chop off her arm, they change the way that she looks so that she can give her breast and have her become a better assassin that way. They capture her and basically drown her to see if she will stay loyal...gosh... so excessive. Trick seems to be a bit upset with her change of figure, I think he liked her the way that she was. Ugh these punishments that they receive are ridiculous...

Chapter 19-27 (view spoiler)[ oh boy, so they are still in training to be a Blade but now people are coming up dead. You would think that training to be a killer they would not be so hard on the rules about murder... nope! 100 lashes!!
Tric and Mia finally get it on, of course they know that it can not be a long term thing but it doesn't stop them. Mia is falling behind because she was injured. One question I did have is if she had darkness inside her that she could use instead of Mister Kindly why couldn't she use that when she was being beat. (hide spoiler)]

********** RESTARTING OCTOBER 3RD 2018 HAPPY READING **********

Oh wow. I’m already 106 pages in. That was unexpected, since I usually read high fantasies like this much slower. So far I’m liking it! I feel like it’s missing an actual plot atm I heard that changes soon. I’m also surprised by the gore. Half the time when people say something is gory it’s not actually that bad.....but this has some pretty nasty deacriptions....which I like 😅

On Chapter 17 now... (view spoiler)[ I am learning I’m not a huge fan of the book so far? It has potential to get better but it really isn’t grabbing me. I’m not attached to any of the characters (a huuuuge deal for me) and I feel like the plot has still not been made clear. What is the goal? what is the purpose? I want to know more but it all feels so....aimless. Mia has so much potential to be interesting but I’m not feeling it. Maybe not that she’s been kidnapped it’ll start picking up for me.

I will say my favorite scene so far was when her teacher literally chopped her arm off. Oh my GOD that came out of nowhere and added a really interesting element. But since then I’ve found it kind of dragged again. 😕 (hide spoiler)]

I think it's all the extra description lol. Yeah I get what you're saying though for about half of this book it just drags... but then it picks up after a while and it kinda picks up inappropriately...

Okay soooo I am on Chap 21 and I must say (view spoiler)[ I am not seeing the hype with this book and I am more than 50% finished.
It isn't per se boring, but it isn't captivating to the point where all I want to do is read this book. Honestly, it is the exact opposite. I am taking way too many days off and at this point I am just reading out of obligation.

I will say I do love Mia, she is witty and kind and just an all around good person/character. I also like Tric. I want them to finally hook up. I say finally because I KNOW it is coming ahahaha

Finished. And honestly (view spoiler)[ i don't see the hype surrounding this book. It was just okay. I think the author did way too much when he was describing things, not only the Gore/blood parts, but also some of the smut action was a bit intense (im not really complaining about that part lol).

But the story was kind of aimless for me. a part of me is going to read the 2nd book because 1) I've already started the series and 2l because I'm intrigued as he were the hell hes gonna go with this. Two more books??? We shall see! Prayfully, the next books pick up alot quicker than this did!

I will say that I did like the main character, Mia. I thought she was well rounded, who doesn't like a sincere, caring, smart ass/sarcastic assassin. I even liked Tric. (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

Ch 4 - OK, I see what others have said about the footnotes being distracting. You guys are ahead of me, so tell me if I skipped them, would I really be missing out on much?

I audiobooked this series. I think the footnotes are the narrators voices, which i enjoy in the audiobook
