Do NOT click this if you hadn't read the book. But, was anyone else in shock?

I had been thinking of multiples scenarios of how it would end, but after finishing it I had to gently set it down and stare blankly at the wall for a few moments. I was never expecting that, it was so sad. I am happy that everything worked out for Aspen and Maxon and America.

Yes I was shocked with the Queen, Celeste and Anne dying! The Queen always wanted another child and she'll never get to know America. I'm glad that Celeste apologized for her actions and realized she didn't need a man. It's too bad she was killed to show it to the world. Oh and I feel sorry for Anne since she's the one who was an orphan and wanted to have a life outside of the palace. She didn't even get Aspen in the end but she is to rigid. I just wish these women had better endings. Oh and I admire America's father and I could see why he died and I think the signs were there in the first book like being tired? I just wish Maxon gave back the songbird necklace to America since it was from her father. I was kind of hoping for that in the end. I'm just glad that everyone had their little happily ever after :)

i was expecting something to happen, but i don't think that it was expecting the story to take the turn that it did. some of the deaths were unnecessary in my opinion and that's what gets me. some folks (i.e. the Queen) deserved to have her happy ending with another child/daughter and she never got that.

Aspen's story didn't surprise me at all - i think that we knew the way that it was going to go - but i think that the anger and resentment that Maxon had and in turn went running to Kris - that was something that both shocked me and was something that i figured would happen at some point.

I was shocked when Celeste died, I was not expecting that to happen. And I agree with Ilana I wasn't expecting Maxon to go running to Kris. Maxon was so understanding and patient when it came to America, it seems he would of been mad but let America explain before he goes running to Kris. I think the Queen should of lived, its sad she had to die. I didn't like the King much so I didn't mind that he was subtracted from the book. I think it was cute that Lucy and Aspen got together, she needed a good man. I was also surprised that Americas dad died :( that was uncalled for. He should of been able to see his daughter happy and walk her down the isle and he was such a good supporter for her with whatever decisions she makes. That made me sad for America.. I thought overall the series was great. Defiantly surprising shocks for the end of The One.

I thought America needed to explain herself to Maxon and that never really happened. He never really gave her the chance and he got so mad!

Yeah I felt like at the end Maxon completely just shut America down and was so cold to her. When he saw America and Aspen weren't they just hugging and talking? And Maxon flipped out. I'm really happy that Aspen and Lucy were together in the end. Also after the rebel attack when America asked about "the prince" and the guard shook his head! Like...why shake your head and not explain that Maxon was upstairs! Anyways I still loved the book.

A tad bit but i was mainly sad.

Did you know that Maxon was supposed to die, and America becomes queen and marries Aspen????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah the ending was very shocking to me! Celeste had finally redeemed herself (kinda) and just like that BOOM DEAD. It was very unsettling for me, and when Maxon took the bullet for America I knew that he really loved her and he would choose her if he didn't die. I understand why the king died, then America would be accepted into the castle and Maxon would be king, but I was upset by the queens death. I thought she was amazing and such and inspiration to America and the other girls. And Anne, she didn't deserve to die. I like that everyone ended up happy. America and Maxon, Aspen and Lucy. It was a bit rushed I think. But I LOVED this series.
