What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I am looking for a children's book. It wasn't really long. It was a single book, no series. It was a kid and he was dreaming and saw a vampire tapping on his window so he lets it in. It turns out it wasnt a dream and he's a vampire now. His friend is super jealous and wants to be one too. He realizes he needs to defeat the vampire that bit him to undo it. He does finally do it tho. Im not sure the name or the author tho. It was from the mid 1990s ish?

Could it be "Vampire for Hire", by Patrick Bone, in Bruce Coville's Book of Spine Tinglers: Tales to Make You Shiver? It's a short story, not a novel, but the picture of the vampire tapping at the window scares me to this day.

could it be Blood Brothers? I have a similar memory of a vampire tapping at a window, and I think it was from this book.

No neither are correct. I also remember the vampire in the window was beeping too. Because his alarm was going off maybe or something. I remember a scene where he rides his bike to school and can go way faster (because he’s stronger as a vampire), but finds his skin is all read from the sun.

Is this a chapter book or a picture book?
If there were illustrations, were they realistic, colorful, full page, etc?

It was a short chapter book. May have been scholastic. Probably around 100pgs or less?
