Roberson carries the narrative well embedded into Tiger’s affluent personage (even if the macho factor has really dimmed by now), so the book is a fast read. I am already halfway through. But what is it with the delirious psychedelic sequences she started in the previous book and is so bent on continuing???

I liked the book very much but mainly because the last chapter and the epilogue were epic. I think it was my second favourite in the whole series (after the opening)

You are a reading machine!!! I have not had the chance to start yet - work, real life, little stuff like that... I am going to start it tomorrow for sure!!!

We have no internet in the new place we moved into. So I only check Goodreads when at work. That is the whole secret :D:D:D

ha ha! I completely get that Mayim. 😊 Since I upped the reading pace I also find myself spending less time on GR.

I started this morning in the end (and I am around 17% in, chapter 5 finished). I am loving the fact we are back in the South, I love Tiger and his witty remarks.
I am curious to see where we are going now; I am glad the plot resumes older story lines which I enjoyed.

I had set this aside in favour of another 2 open reads. Will start tomorrow after I close those.

I just finished it. I think this is among my favorite of the series just yet. I am also curious about the last book at this point!

I'm a little more than halfway through and I also like it more than the previous ones.

I just started and as always, I am a sucker for everything Tiger and Del! I love when they are in the South. It seems that for them as a couple, this is their natural environment:):):)

I'm over halfway in - I didn't mean to be but Jennifer Roberson forced me to spend the afternoon reading!

I'm preferring this book to the last couple - Tiger with a normal sword in his hand is better than magic/messiah/cursed sword bearer Tiger - in my opinion anyway!

I agree! Tiger as himself is perfect enough 😀

Stayed up late last night to finish this. I really enjoyed it, but couldn't help feeling the end was (view spoiler)[ a little too perfect (the perfect home for them, Del's pregnancy) with any loose threads neatly trimmed off, but as Jennifer Roberson originally intended this to be the last book in the series I'll let her have that. (hide spoiler)]. And I felt Del was rather underused - much as I love Tiger, I do like it when our Del has her moment to shine!

Some thoughts and questions: (view spoiler)[ So am I right in assuming Tiger has managed to quench the magic in himself? So the ten/twelve year limit on his life no longer applies? I'm not sure how far into the future the next book is set, but I'm looking forward to seeing how our sword-dancers navigate parenthood. And Aldric has shot up in my esteem as the best friend ever! I am still kind of in the beginning, so I am not opening the spoilers. I just wanted to say, I love our albino gelding!!! Never would have I thought I would see the day the Stud would be afraid of anyone or anything!!!! I just couldn't stop laughing when he would fall behind and then run to catch-up, the poor old man-horse!!!! I love him so much!

@Shaitarn - first of all - I love your new pic!!! And then back to our book - I loved the (view spoiler)[sappy ending. But then I'm a bit sappy myself and I'm a sucker for happy endings.
From what I understood, Tiger pushed all the magic out of his body and into the jivatma, the way he did with the wizard. And then he broke Samiel to fully destroy the magic and leave it no way of coming back to him. I supposed this was what his poor dead mother was trying to tell him. That there is a way of getting rid of the magic by pushing it into Samiel. But then I also wonder if it wasn't Tiger's subconscious after all who conjured the dream of his dead mother and the way out of the trap of magic. Regardless, I loved it!
Tiger gave up power and magic and strength as a sword dancer in favour of family and friends. That was a huge sacrifice for someone like him and I love that he did it.

Del didn't shine that much here. That is true. This seemed like a Tiger book but for me, the previous book already held the question of what next for Tiger? (hide spoiler)]

I loved Alric also and Snowball was fabulous!! I imagine him with the wine girl's red tassels and can't help grinning.

@Choko - that gelding made me burst out laughing several times while reading. Just wait and see how Tiger handles him later on... 😉

I know I'm in minority here but it was a 5 star read for me. I absolutely loved it.

I imagined the gelding looking at Tiger sadly with these big, mournful blue eyes while Tiger was trying to arrange the tassels and muttering "Hoolies!" to himself!

Ooo, I think Del would drive every dude crazy if she starts dressing and acting like a wine girl😀😀😀! Poor 🐯! And don't you guys feel like the medicine man had him on some good weed and mushrooms throughout his whole time with the tribe? I am glad Del took control of things 😎

Laura, there is nothing wrong with being sappy. I loved the ending too. In fact, I did like the last chapter and the epilogue the most of the whole book.

I have to admit - I loved the happy ending!! I loved the whole thing! I am a romantic sap as well:):):):):)
