Critical Failures
question
Do you think this book would be better if the characters weren’t so extremely unpleasant

There were some amusing things happening it’s not a total crud festival but the main characters were so stupid and awful I just wanted them all to die
Except for the familiars I liked them

They become more likable (and some less) as the series goes on. I had the same thought originally, but I'm glad I stuck with it.
I don't know if I can agree with that. Aside from being unrepentant assholes, which they do try to improve upon to the tiniest degree possible, every single character is also just a grade a moron. It is hard to get invested in a story that would have been solved in the first few chapters of the first book if everyone , good guy, bad guy, side character, and the freaking animals weren't all about as smart as a really clever Marmoset going on their fourth bong of hashish and ganja after they pulled a two day Fortnite binge surviving on nothing but Red Bull and totino's pizza rolls.
