I have the old series reading problem. I don't really remember the first book.
First book == amnesia in this series... not much more needs to be known, at this point... this is the book that really starts building/expanding the mythology...

Oh cool that simplifies things a lot.
I have read a bit further, still no definite thoughts as yet.
I had so many BR's going that needed to get completed that I lacked a little traction to start this one. I'm about 25% done and I like this more than book 1 so far.

While the book is entertaining due to all the action, I continuously felt that it could have been better written. The scene changes and transitions often felt rather abrupt. The flashback story was pretty good, but the current story left something to be desired.

I totally agree and I felt that about book 1 as well. It's one of those mindless quick reads that you need to throw in from time to time so I'm liking it. If I was more in for a challenge I'd be disappointed.
I'll definitely read the entire series and I like it more than Dresden.

Exactly the same here. I end up trying to explain that I read and enjoy them not because of the quality, but because it is a break from other, more complex reads and it is purely for entertainment value, no deep thought process involved:):):)

Yes they seemed like a convenient addition. There's definitely a ton of faults with these books. Still liking it though.

Finished this morning. These are so cheesy but a good distraction from more serious works. Still I like this much more than Dresden.
