Ascolta Sometime in the last few years I read a YA-fantasy that features a mortal (teenage girl?) getting transported into a fairy realm and thrust into a kind of epic, cosmic hunt scene. It's pretty vividly described: there are braying hounds and she's in terrible danger, though she never quite sees her pursuers. I believe she bumps into another character who is fey, and reluctantly helps her (and no doubt becomes the primary love interest). I thought maybe this is a Julie Kagawa novel, but honestly can't remember.

There's a kind of metaphysical aspect too - the hunt represents the great cycle of life + death... sound at all familiar to any YA-fantasy fans out there?

The Life Of A Firefly (thelifeofafirefly) | 171 comments Hmm... Although I can't remeber much of the details.. Your description sort of reminds me of Wicked Lovely by melissa Mar. Fairies are invisible in this novel but the main character can see them and has to pretend she can't. But then shes thrust into the world of fairies. Not sure if its the one your looking for. The only other fairy book i know is Wings. Good Luck.

Thank you! I checked the Marr, but have not read that one. I've realized this is a ref. to the "Wild Hunt" trope... and it's shown up in more than one YA fantasy (including Kagawa's Iron King and Dogsbody by Diana Wynne Jones), so not sure if I've conflated those, or there really is another one that conforms to my memory :)
