Everyone gets the Mark. It gives all the benefits of citizenship. Yet if getting the Mark is such a good thing, then why does it feel so wrong?
Set in a future North America that is struggling to recover after famine and global war, "Swipe" follows the lives of three kids caught in the middle of a conflict they didn't even know existed. United under a charismatic leader, every citizen of the American Union is required to get the Mark on their 13th birthday in order to gain the benefits of citizenship.
The Mark is a tattoo that must be swiped by special scanners for everything from employment to transportation to shopping. It's almost Logan Langly's 13th birthday and he knows he should be excited about getting the Mark, but he hasn't been able to shake the feeling he's being watched. Not since his sister went to get her Mark five years ago . . . and never came back.
When Logan and his friends discover the truth behind the Mark, will they ever be able to go back to being normal teenagers?
Part 3 (view spoiler)[Yay multiple POV :D Logan seems too paranoid for me. I just read a book about a crazy woman, and not quite ready for another one, so I hope there's a reason behind his paranoia.
Oh wow I wonder what Erin found! Why did she go with her father and not stay with her mum? Oh wow he's a spy!
Oh wow so the teacher's a holograph?
Bleh he likes her. Glad she doesn't like him yet. He seems so annoying! Just pleased that he isn't hot.
Part 5 (view spoiler)[Lol that card game. Chapter 2: Oh wow this is from the bag guys' POV! Wonder what Pec's actually doing with the people he's taking! Wonder if Logan'll find his sister! Chapter 3: Naw he'll regret pushing his dad away. (hide spoiler)]
Part 6 (view spoiler)[Chapter 1: Pleased he gets excited about a date with Hayley. And bummer shit's going to go down with Dane. Chapter 4: Kind of confused as to why Blake's group is doing what they are? Are they getting something? (hide spoiler)]
Finished (view spoiler)[ Had a feeling that Pec would be good, but definitely didn't know he was a young guy, Lily's age! And she's still alive! What a coincidence she's in Beacon though, right where Erin wants to go back to. (hide spoiler)]
Review: This was pretty good. Loved the multiple POV, even though I was confused at times. Probably just me and audios though. It's a common trend. I was a little confused by the change in Logan's character though. He went from being (view spoiler)[constantly paranoid all the time to almost having forgotten his paranoia as soon as he met Erin? Suspicious. (hide spoiler)] And I hate how these kids are like 12. That fact kept slipping past me. At least it meant (view spoiler)[no romance, at least not full romance, and I like how Erin started off finding him annoying. I do too. (hide spoiler)] Interested to see what happens next.
