I can't believe it that I'm finally going to read it! Love the show and I've been putting off this book for years, since I discovered Game of Thrones.

I watch the show too. I told my fiance that I wanted to read the books. He bought me the first one and I won book 2,3, and 4 in giveaways. I've also been putting off the books. This will help me get started.

Okay so me and my fiance are arguing because he has a theory that with Jon or Danenerys (hope I spelled that right) is going to die in the big battle and the other will sit on the throne. He says it will be Danenerys to sit on the throne and Jon dies. I say it will be the other way around.

Hopefully that theory is wrong and both live and get married.

OMG! Oh man I could talk and talk about GoT all day long. I'm pretty sure I went to an interview and we talked about GoT for such a long time. Isn't there a theory that either Jon or Bran is like a part of the Night King?!? I mean starting from last season and moving forward have nothing to do with the books so I'm really excited to see what will be happening in season 8.

The theory is that Bran goes back in time and he is the one that gets turned into the first white walker which happens to be the night king.

I was lucky this summer. I went to Dublin on holiday and I did the Game of Thrones tours and went to some of the locations they used during the first 3 seasons. A coach full of fans and a lot of speculations! LOL

I'm so exited for this next season. The episodes are going to be longer but there are fewer episodes.

Chapters 1-15: (view spoiler)[So for these comments I’m just going to talk about the people that each chapter is about (and yes multiple chapters can and will be used under one name):



Bran: Oh man oh man oh man I LOVE THE STARK CHILDREN. I am so happy it started off with him. I am actually thinking about the first episode of Game of Thrones as well and I’m in awe. I love the TV series and so far I’m in love with the book—and it’s only the beginning!! AND OF COURSE I GET TO THE PART WHEN JAMIE FUCKING LANNISTER PUSHES BRAN OUT OF THE BROKEN TOWER AND MY HEART BREAKS AGAIN. I seek revenge.



Catelyn: Hello Mama Stark!! I have always liked her relationship with Ned and this just brought back so many memories. I feel bad for her sister and her sister’s son because she could go to visit them. She couldn’t go make sure her own sister was fine and well after her husband has died. Why? Oh because the King Robert and his family were coming to Winterfell. Then the whole deal with the secret letter from her sister stating that the Queen has killed her husband—yes, we know Cersei Lannister is beyond evil and I wouldn’t put it past her to kill someone, but it does seem far-fetched.



Daenerys: AHHH DANY! Ugh her brother still gives me the creeps and I love how I still hate the ever living shit out of him. So thank you George R.R. Martin for not changing my opinion about him. Also, their marriage history throughout her family is extremely creepy and makes me cringe. I would not want to marry my brother at all so I think it’s all very strange that brother and sister marry each other within the Targaryen family. I don’t care that much about a pure family line. I’m cringing while I type this. If only you could see me face. And Oh my goodness gracious. Okay to see at least twelve deaths at a wedding would be extremely traumatizing for me. I don’t know how Dany did it. But I’m super happy that her and Khal did the deed.



Eddard: I really liked getting to know more about Ned and his friendship with King Robert. And for both of them to go down to the Ned’s Family Crypt to say a few words to Ned’s sister and King Robert’s once beloved Lyanna. I thought that was very sweet of them to do. However, I did see something coming and that something was King Robert asking Ned for a favor. He wants him to come to King’s Landing and for Ned to become the Hand of the King. AND THEN THE KING WAS ALL LIKE “OH YEAH, OUR KIDS SHOULD GET MARRIED.” Like hold up, was that the offer? Hey your kid should marry my kid because we should be brothers… ya know if your sister was still alive we would’ve been. So since we have kids around the same age that’s like the second best thing, right? FALSE. SO FREAKING FALSE.



Jon: I love Jon so much. I don’t care whatsoever about him being a bastard’s son. He is extremely loyal even when he shouldn’t be. I love his relationship with Ghost. I also really like the advice that Tyrion Lannister gave Jon: “Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.” Okay seriously Catelyn needs to take that stick out of her ass because she has no right to be that rude to my poor Jon. I mean, if almost all of her children can be nice to him—why can’t she? AND OMG MY HEART! I love his relationship with Arya!!! HE GAVE HER THE NEEDLE!! I totally forgot about that.



Arya: Okay let me state this off first before I even go into great detail about Arya. She’s completely fucking amazing. I love her character and I love her freaking sass. I love her friendship with Nymeria in the beginning too!! Also, let me state that I don’t like it when Arya is jealous of Sansa.



Tyrion: Oh man I love how clever this character is. I don’t understand why his sister despises him so much and how his brother just lets everything go on. I like how he is hopeful for Bran but also knew when to bring up the subject that he may or may not live. Yes some of Cersei’s kids were wondering but I have a feeling that Tyrion knows what has been going on between his twin brother and sister and that is why he brought up that subject.



Sansa: God is she completely spoiled. I honestly didn’t like her in the first season… or the next season…or the next. Okay in the TV series I actually didn’t like Sansa until season 7. So, while I’m reading this book it just proves as to why I didn’t like her in the first place. Honestly, I just don’t get the fixation on Prince Joffrey. Ugh I’d rather stab my own eyes out and rip my ears off than be with him. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 16-30: (view spoiler)[

Eddard: So he has been looking for Arya because of the incident between Prince Joffrey and her direwolf Nymeria. And of course Arya is smart as shit and doesn’t have Nymeria just lying around until she is summoned. No she told that direwolf to fucking run. So what’s the next best direwolf? Lady, who is Sansa’s. WHICH I APPLAUD THE QUEEN ON THAT SHIT RIGHT THERE. WHY?!?! Oh because Sansa thinks she is all high and mighty and tries to play freaking Switzerland and not blame one person (I.e. Joffrey) for the fight so of course her wolf needs to die. Good riddance. Maybe that will teach Sansa to stick up for her freaking family members. So, no I don’t feel bad for Ned having to kill Lady and I don’t feel bad for Sansa at all. SIDE NOTE: DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TRUST LITTLEDIPSIT NED!!! Don’t do it!! It’s a trap!! But then that last chapter when Ned finds out why Lord Jon died because he kept asking questions blew my mind. I totally forgot about why he died in the first place.



Bran: BRAN NAMED HIS DIREWOLF FREAKING SUMMER!! HOW EFFING ADORABLE IS THAT?!?!? Let me tell you… 100% adorable. 13/10 would agree. Because….ya know … winter is coming. Also, side note: be strong buddy!! You do great things later… I mean hopefully you will (I’ve never read the books—just watched the show!!).



Catelyn: When she goes to King’s Landing I get so flipping frustrated with her because of how easily she trust god damn Littlefinger. Like, I get it. I’ve watched up to season 7 of Game of Thrones so I know not to trust littlebitch but UGHHH WHY CATELYN WHY?!?! This is a prime example of why I have trust issues with real people. But other than that you have to give this woman her credit when it’s due because she doesn’t just wait for someone else to do the dirty work or ask questions—she fucking finds a way to do it herself. And there is no shame in that.



Jon: He is at the wall hanging out with the Night’s Watch when he gets word about Bran and how he is alive and well. No, he cannot walk but Jon rejoices in the fact knowing that his half-brother is alive. I also like how Tyrion went with them to the wall to see it. Because you know Cersei and Jaime weren’t going to do it---ya know with all the wild incest sex they have been having. JON MEETS SAM I repeat, Jon meets Sam <3. Boy do I love Sam in the TV series—I hope I love him even more in this book.



Tyrion: LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY FAVORITE LANNISTER. It’s him. Hands down—the rest of them suck ass. I like how he looks out for people like, Jon and especially himself because he knows how cruel the world can be towards people who are different. Especially… if they are your own family members—like the Lannisters. I honestly really like his friendship with Jon in the book… but I guess I can’t really call it a friendship. More like an acquaintance.



Ayra: GOD I LOVE HER SASS!!! And I love how much she hates Prince Joffrey because Arya is fucking amazing and doesn’t deal with anyone’s shit. Not like Sansa who just does what someone wants her to do. I love how much she despises Septa Mordane because honestly that woman was so freaking annoying. I would’ve done the same thing that Ayra did—run away every god damn time. ALSO, I love the father-daughter bonding going on here because you don’t really see that with Sansa. I just like how no one is really trying to change Ayra—unless your name is Septa Mordane—but everyone is finally starting to accept her for whom she is. SIDE NOTE: Still freaking sad as hell that Nymeria isn’t around.



Daenerys: God I still hate her brother Viserys—can he die yet? ”You do not command the dragon. Do you understand? I am the Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, I will not hear orders from some horselord’s slut, do you hear me? His hand went under her vest, his fingers digging painfully into her breast. “Do you hear me?” IF THAT IS NOT THE DEFINITION OF SOMEONE WHO NEEDS TO DIE THAN I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT DOES. I hate him so much. SOOOOO MUCH. Who the hell treats their sibling like that? Obviously this douche bag. Can’t wait for someone to give him shit and beat the living daylights out of him. And who comes to save this damsel in distress? THE FUCKING DOTHRAKI. Shit just got real… real quick.



Sansa: UGHHHHHHHHH. I just don’t even want to read about her right now. I get it she like’s Joffrey. Yay? I don’t even care that the Hound threatened her. AT ALL. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 31-45: (view spoiler)[”Oh, but it was, my lord,” Cersei insisted. “When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground.”



Tyrion: BAHAHAHA When Lady Stark (aka Catelyn) begs for her men not to kill him there his response was: “Don’t kill him anywhere.” I think this is another reason why I love this character so much because he is so freaking funny—even when he isn’t trying. Also, I kind of feel bad that people always think the worst of him. Like I get that he is super cunning and smart as hell but WHY DO PEOPLE TRUST LITTLEFINGER SO GOD DAMN EASILY?



Ayra: OMG WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP CALLING HER A BOY?!?! Does a hair cut really make a girl transform into a boy that god damn quickly? People are freaking idiots. I don’t know why or how she puts up with Sansa’s shit every time. Arya needs to give her a good bitch slap.



Eddard: Ned is trying to talk King Robert out of killing a pregnant woman because I mean it’s a pretty good god damn reason not to kill someone who is pregnant (aka Daenery)—is it not? I still hate Littlefinger and I have no idea why people keep freaking listening to his ideas at this point. Oh and let’s not forget that Ned gets in trouble with Robert and Cersei because of Catelyn taking Tyrion as a hostage—which baffles me why Cersei even cares about that (which she honestly doesn’t ) she just doesn’t want Ned to be the hand.



Catelyn: She is sort on the same brink as Sansa in my mind. I honestly don’t care what she does character wise within this book anymore and I don’t care if she lives or not (even though I already know her ending because of the show). But it’s like her and Sansa just rub me the wrong way. I mean she is a strong and independent woman but the lengths she goes to … to protect her family and such it just doesn’t do it for me. I don’t know—I’m probably explaining it wrong.



Daenery’s: As I said up above, she is preggo. LIKE HUGE. But of course her brother is still around being a god damn douche and I just want him gone. I don’t like the way he treats her and honestly he should have been killed already. “You are the dragon,” Dan whispered to him, “the true dragon. I know it. I know it.” And she smiled, and went to sleep dreaming of home.” I just want her to plan her brothers’ death already…



Bran: Robb takes him out on a ride which I thought was really sweet since he can’t walk anymore. However, Bran just wants to go faster like he used to but he can’t. Bran going through this situation just breaks my heart. WHY? Oh, because he just turned 8 and he was pushed out of the tower for seeing something he shouldn’t have and now he can’t walk. Also, I don’t think I’ve mentioned this earlier but I really like Bran’s direwolf name Summer.. because I honestly had no idea if he named the wolf or not in the show. SO thank you for some clarity George R.R. Martin.



Jon: I like how he looks out for Sam. Honestly I really love their friendship. It’s honest and true—which is hard to come around. I also like how he is trying to get him to join the Night’s Watch…. Or to let the Night Watch let Sam Join. Because the Night Watch is always short of people in certain positions—which Sam could definitely do.



Sansa: She is talking about her father around people she shouldn’t be. UGH. WHY SANSA. And I honestly hate how she keeps protecting Joffrey and spreading lies about Arya’s friend attack him. He was a butchers boy and him and Ayra were playing with sticks. Prince Joffrey deserved to be bitten by Nymeria when Ayra stepped in between the two boys. Her direwolf was just protecting her human. Totally reasonable—Sansa needs to stop be so freaking bitter and move onto to liking some with a better personality. And the constant whining about how she wants to marry Joffrey and only him because he will be the only person on this planet that will make her happy.... UGH.

Chapters 46-60: (view spoiler)[”As his men died around him, Littlefinger slid Ned’s dagger from its sheath and shoved it up under his chin. His smile was apologetic. “’I did warn you not to trust me, you know.’”



Daenerys: Blech I hated this part in the show and now I hate reading about it as well. Her being covered in blood from eating the heart of the stallion—sounds super gross and looks even worse. But aside from that creepy snack given to her, I actually really like her and Khal Drogo together. ”I’ve come for her feast. How dare you presume to eat without me? No one eats before the king. Where is she? The whore can’t hide from the dragon.” Can someone please tell him he isn’t the dragon? But that he is a whiney ass bitch. And when he threatened the baby’s life and Daenery’s…man I knew shit was going to go down. I’m so happy that Drogo killed him and protected his wife and baby. I’m not even mad that Viserys died because he wasn’t the dragon—which is what I said earlier, because fire cannot kill a dragon. He died. He’s gone for forever.



Eddard: So, Ned has been summoned by the King while he was down in the crypts. He was thinking of his sister Lyanna when the king’s steward found him. Ned went to King Robert had found out that he has been attacked by the boar. Which is kind of sad… and makes me think of that scene in Outlander (I can’t remember which chapter but when a guy was attacked by a boar that they were hunting and died out in the field). Then the King proceeds to joke about how the boar should be served at his funeral and such. And again, I’m going to mention it freaking again, because I honestly have no idea why every character trusts Littlefinger….. BUT CAN YOU ALL JUST STOP.

Now let me go back to why people shouldn’t trust Littlefinger: look at the quote wayyy up above. HE literally tells you not to trust him!!! YET people still end up trusting him. People are stupid. This is why Ned has been caught. He’s basically being tortured and going mad. Oh, and don’t forget the whole dying part. But at least he knows that only one of his daughters is stupid enough to stay under Cersei’s manipulation (AKA SANSA I’M LOOKING AT YOU). Whereas the smart child, Arya, has run away and no one has found her.



Jon: I still really like his friendship with Sam. I like how they look out for each other and hang out within the Night’s Watch. Plus, I love that Ghost is there to keep Jon company… although it was super gross that Ghost had a hand in its mouth.



Ayra: I love how she’s being taught how to sword fight and hot to protect herself.



Sansa: ”I’m not like Arya,” Sansa blurted. “She has the traitor’s blood, not me. I’m good, ask Septa Mordane, she’ll tell you, I only want to be Joffrey’s loyal and loving wife.” I’M SORRY BUT WHAT THE HELL?!?! Can some one get this girl some real goals?!? She only cares about herself and if her life is better. She didn’t even bother to ask how her sister is or where she was.



Bran: Hodor has been mentioned a couple of times: so here is my shout out to him  Also I’m happy he is usually around Robb—although I’m sad that he doesn’t get his own part.



Catelyn: hhahaha I’m sorry but when you see one of your sons after a while and the first thing you say is “You’ve grown a beard.” How am I not supposed to laugh out loud?!?! And since when is it wrong to show that you love a child in front of people? She also finds out what has been going on in King’s Landing while she was away…. Let’s just say she isn’t too thrilled.



Tyrion: I hate how he is treated by his family. Like his father, sister, and brother should be treating him way better—but no, because they are evil people. Well, maybe not Jaime---unless he is under the power of Cersei’s vagina. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 1-5 (view spoiler)[ it is kind of amazing how different the book is already from the show. I mean I remember danerys being much more meek on the show but not this meek. Tyrian of course is still my favorite. The way they depict Tyrian with the green and black eyes. How Jon was so determined to get himself to the wall. Yea, I'm definitely going to enjoy this... on another note, can I have a dire wolf? Just one will do (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 61-72, aka..

Daenerys: She stops a girl getting raped because she is the definition of a fucking boss. ”I am khaleesi, heir to the Seven Kingdoms, the blood of the dragon,” Dany reminded him. “It is not for you to tell me what I cannot do.” I also just love how she treats each person she meets as an actual person, and not as a slave. But then Drogo gets hurt/sick and Dany doesn’t know what to do about it. This made me very sad, even in the TV show, because I really liked them together. Hmm... oh well.



Tyrion: Has a fight/talk with his dad…. I honestly have no idea what it was because I never expect his family to act like his family whenever Tyrion is around. This is also when he meets Shae (which if I remember correctly was one of his whores turned into like a steady girlfriend (I guess you can call it that) and all that shebang.



Catelyn: She has captured Jaime Lannister. She always finds out that her husband has been killed by King Joffrey’s hand. But really it was Queen Cersei because she’s an evil bitch.



Ayra: She finds out that these gentlemen were talking about the bells that are ringing. People were talking about how it was because the King has died but everyone else said that if the King did die then all of the bells would be ringing. Arya then finds out that the bells that were ringing were summoning the Hand for a trial, aka her dad Ned Stark. She heard her dad’s sentence and wanted to stop King Joffrey from killing her dad... but that didn’t happen. Ned still died and Sansa and Arya watched. Well…. Arya was told not to look—but she was there.



Sansa: After realizing that Joffrey is a despicable human being she comes to the conclusion that she doesn’t want to marry the guy that chopped off her dad’s head. I’m glad that she has some sort of brain function, but it’s a little too late girlfriend. You knew he was a monster from the beginning and did absolutely nothing about it. So I don’t care if she suffers or not. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 6-30 (view spoiler)[ The hatred that I have for Sansa is so real!!! How could you squeal on your sister like that. I will say for the most part the parts that I like the most are from Jon and Dany. Her brother is like the devil incarnated, I just don't understand how he can feel so entitled when he needs to beg for an army!! In case you haven't notice your are not king no matter how much you think you deserve to be!! (hide spoiler)]

I sadly didn't get much reading done but I did get to chapter 5. Wy bought me the audio book so when I go exersice tonight I will be able to make more progress. (view spoiler)[I hate cersei so much more in the book. They casted her amazing. Robert makes me want to throw up a bit. And I like the prolouge much better in the book. Way more spookier than the show because we don't know what happened. I mean the little kid with blue eyes being dead and all is scary but this put more of a mystery on the bodies. Maybe it's just me. So far I am liking the book more than the show. (hide spoiler)]

I love audio books! I was hesitant at first to try them but now I love them! I hope you guys are enjoying the book too!

so Viserys finally got what he deserved!!! a golden hot boiling rip the skin of his face crown... Yes... TAKE THAT!!!
Caitlyn bothers me to no end, its almost like she is too ready, too rash, like she makes decisions before she really thinks them out. I really just wanted to tell her to go sit down somewhere.
Sansa....dumbass... all I can say about that.
Cersei, even though she is evil at least she admits it. The only time that I really have heard her lie in the book is when she was speaking to Robert. Hell I admire that she is true to herself.
Now the main part... they freaking beheaded him. JOFFREY needs to die a horrible death, after he promised that he would show mercy, he just kills him. I could almost feel Arya pain when He asked for his head. He is just a horrible person! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 66 -72 (view spoiler)[ Jeez, Khal was really getting closer to Dany and she was finally coming into herself, That witch needed to die. Of course I knew that the dragons were coming but it was so climatic!! Like yes! There is my dragon queen!!! (hide spoiler)]

Read the first 50 pages yesterday. I think I was surprised there were more extras scenes in the TV show than in the book. A lot of things were added in the show. (view spoiler)[(For example when they find the dead stag before the direwolf. In the tour they explained how the producers leave all these symbolism than should tell you what happens next. Dead Stag=The death of Baratheon , dead direwolf= the death of Ned Stark) (hide spoiler)]

And of course in the show they use older actors so I was shocked to discover that in the books Jon Snow is only 14, Daenerys 13 and Sansa 11!

This morning I read the part dealing with Lady Stark and Jon Snow and I still don't understand (view spoiler)[ why Ned Stark never told his wife the truth about the birth of Jon. It seems like it would have been a lot easier and he could have trusted her with the secret. (hide spoiler)]

I fully agree. Got in a couple more chapters. I like Daenerys and Khal Drogo so much more in the book than the series.
