Ahh yes that's right. There were so many one hit wonders that were around then. But still a good song!

Chris (murphy44) | 710 comments I've always been a sucker for great songs that tell a story like the Eagles and Hotel California. So with that in mind, try this one:

Just for the record let's get the story straight
Me and Uncle Tom were fishin' it was gettin'
Pretty late
Out on a cypress limb above the wishin' well
Where they say is got no bottom say it take
You down to Hell.
Over in the bushes and off to the right
Come two men talking; in the pale moonlight
Sheriff John Brady and Deputiy Hedge
Haulin' two limp bodies down to the water's edge

Uncle Tom's Cabin. I confess I got the band wrong. I was thinking Skid Row but it was Warrant. All those hair bands blend together.

Yes Emelia that is James the song is Laid.

No peeking.....
Name this tune;

Sally, take my hand, we'll travel south 'cross land
Put out the fire and don't look past my shoulder
The exodus is here, the happy ones are near
Let's get together before we get much older

And the admiration will flow and I shall sew the one who gets this a "Czar of Music" rob...or "Czarina of Music"

He has subscriptions to those
Magazines
He never waves when he goes by
He's hiding something from
The rest of us
He's all to himself
I think I know why
He took down the tire swing from the Peppertree
He has no children of his own you see
He has no dog
And he has no friends and
His lawn is dying and
What about all those packages
He sends.

I spent a full two minutes dying but couldn't give up on "the exodus is here" knowing I knew it and looking it up would kill me.

I heard you on the wireless back in fifty two
Lying awake intent at tuning in on you
If I was young it didn't stop you coming through
Oh a oh
They took the credit for your second symphony
Rewritten by machine on new technology
And now I understand the problems you can see
Oh a oh
I met your children
Oh a oh
What did you tell them?

I will be amazed if somebody gets this one but you'll all laugh when you look it up.

The mist across the window hides the lines
But nothing hides the color of the lights that shine
Electricity so fine
Look and dry your eyes
We
So tired of all the darkness in our lives
With no more angry words to say
Can come alive
Get into a car and drive
To the other side

I knew, I knew the lyrics but just couldn't get there and had to look it up. I probably haven't heard that song in 20 years but heard it enough back in the day to last me a lifetime.

I'm in that 1% who for the most part cannot stand classic rock. It's not that I didn't like most of it at one point. It's that it's been forced down my throat ad nauseum. I'm so burnt on it. Even some more modern acts like Pearl Jam and Guns and Roses I'll lopped into classic rock.

Some of it I'll just always love. Floyd, Hendricks, some Zeppelin but even those I can only listen to in small batches these days. Other bands such as Aerosmith I can only listen to the stuff that was never overly popular. Same old Song and Dance comes on and that channel is changing. Seasons of Wither comes on and I'll listen.

Having grown up in the 80's I'm also in the 1% thinking most of it is shit, in retrospect. People I went to school with will post a link to a youtube video and say remember this song? And all I can think is I was trying to forget UB40 and their suckish red red wine ever existed. That's not to say I hate it all but good lord some of it is awful.

I was watching Stranger Things and there is a house party and they're playing Shout at the Devil by Motley Crue and god help me I still like them in the right dose. A scene later they're playing something by Duran Duran at the same house party. I had to laugh because there's absolutely ZERO change a house party played those two bands together and I don't mind Duran Duran but it's two distinctive types of people who liked each.

Not a big fan of "Glam Rock" lol but some old YES and Rush I still like. And always will love Zepplin ;)
UB40...ugh lol way overplayed and I think of nails on a chalkboard when I hear it.
Like small doses of Rage Against the Machine ;)
Duran Duran makes me shudder hahahaha...never liked them much.
I like a variety of old blues and rock to some grunge and alternative (is that what they still call it? lol)
Guess I like whatever music fits my mood
Classical is always still nice though

I like the older Rush. Agree on Rage.

90's-modern alternative is my genre of choice which includes sub genres likes grunge, pop punk, etc. Jane's Addiction, STP, Tool, Green Day, Blink 182, Better Than Ezra, Third Eye Blind....... The Lumineers, Imagine Dragons...

Samir (royceblackwater) | 842 comments It's you that I adore
You'll always be my whore
You'll be a mother to my child
And a child to my heart
We must never be apart
We must never be apart

Lovely girl you're the beauty in my world
Without you there are no reasons left to find

And I'll pull your crooked teeth
You'll be perfect just like me
You'll be a lover in my bed
And a gun to my head
We must never be apart
We must never be apart

This one isn't really to see who will get it because I'm 99% sure all of you will and definitely Samir. It's more because I'm done with everything, bored and waiting for Oathbringer and Deadhouse Landing tomorrow.

One of my favorite quotes from any song.

When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone
