Elizabeth (Alaska) Is there a policy and/or preference for award language? See:

https://www.goodreads.com/award?utf8=...

At this point, the English language award name has more books, but perhaps it is Japanese readers who will be looking for this award. I can see the argument made for one of the ones with a combination, but changing it so that Shugoro is used rather than Shūgorō or Shugorō.

But I'm really asking a generic question, because this won't be the only such award.

While we have never had a policy on this, it seems to me that the spelling used by the official site (when there is one) should be preferred.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Thanks for the leadership, Rivka. A librarian has nicely linked to both the official Japanese site and an English translated site, but that award name has the names reversed, so none of these 4 is correctly titled, it seems.

The official site is Japanese only. I'm going to merge all of the entries to this one, so that the Japanese name appears first, with respect. Names can easily be edited/changed if/when another preference is made.

That seems reasonable to me.
