I think Charley is making Reyes work so hard for an answer because she was stalling to find out more information; he is not very forthcoming with the info.

Charley's Dad is an interesting character. I think he's going to Hell literally and wants there to be nothing he loves held over him that runs a risk of getting hurt. Charley has Reyes to protect her.
Charley is independent, so accepting Reyes' proposal is letting go of a piece of control. Accepting the proposal was difficult for her, just think how hard it will be to get her down the aisle.

The truth is that Charlie and Reyes really dont know each other that well. Not really... shes still getting to know him and the reaper part of herself. I think its mostely the unknown thats holding her back.
As a writer myself though i cant help but wonder if the holding back from saying yes might have less to do with Charlie and more to do with some future thing that the author knows is coming but we dont. And the hesitation is prep for it. Just a thought.

I reckon not replying to Reyes' proposal is Charley being Charley. She does not want to stop and think about what will happen, or if they have a chance at being together. Ignoring feelings in order to not be hurt? And not answering pisses off Reyes, which is a plus for her.

I predict it will be Charley's Dad. I think he's going to turn Evil! :)
I'm going to start Sixth today... !
I think he realizes that he didn't protect her as a child and wants to make sure she is safe now. I think Charley is terrified of tying the knot with Reyes!

I thought that already happened when Charley's dad called the cops on her and he shot her just to confirm she had special powers. Most would be way easier if Charley was completely open with her dad as it was previously said here. It makes no sense that she was so tight with her dad growing up and is Gemma the one that knows the truth.

As for her putting off Reyes' proposal... it's kind of more fun that way, isn't it? hahaha And also, I think she is thinking of the bigger picture- her being all good, and him being evil and all. She's just trying to follow her heart and her overall "purpose" I think?

I don't think she was thinking too much about him being evil. She's known that all along and have said in previous books, can't remember which, that he was always the one. I think she was just making him sweat it for fun.
I really don't know what dear ol' Dad is up to....He's acting so weird. But I'm so glad he ditched the step-monster.

As for the proposal, she knew she will say yes, she was just playing a little hard to get :)

As for keeping Reyes waiting, she was always gonna say yes, she loves him but she was also trying to get answers out of him by holding off on her answer, sort of like, 'you tell me about hell and your life, or answer some questions about what I can do and I'll give you my answer', the other side of it is simple Charley's mischievous side, I think she thought it was fun to hold out on him and see him work to get her answer!

Joanette, I agree with you about Charley's dad. I too think he is investigating Reyes but I wonder how he was really healed. Charley swears she had nothing to do with it. I often wonder which side her dad is really on now.

Ines, I could not wait any longer to read it. I tried, oh how much I tried. I finally broke down and listened in my car on a road trip.
I also agree with you about Charley not answering Reyes. I think it is simply her being Charley. She is silly and playful. She knows he is hers and she is his but is simply being herself and "playing" with him a little.

Dawn, I do not remember that bit in the books but I am wondering about Charley's dad too. His recovery is a little "fishy" to me. His behavior towards Charley has not been good in the past and now all of a sudden he is all lovey dovey. It is simply too weird.

I hope you are right about Charley's father, Dana. I have a bad feeling about him and I hope I am wrong, so very wrong. A girl needs to be able to rely on her Daddy. I agree about Charley tying the knot. She does not like to think about things unless she is forced to and her way of dealing is to play around. I do believe she knows they belong together though. It is simply the whole act of marriage, I think.

Kyra, I like that "making him sweat". It is a wonderful way to put it and exactly what I think Charley was doing.

Stephanie, I love Ubie. He is wonderful and a great replacement for dad. I, too, believe he was cured but I wonder how and to what means. I may be too ominous but I believe something sinister is coming with dad but I really hope I am wrong.

Lea and Suzan hard to get is a great way to express Charley's behavior towards Reyes.

Yeah, I'm not a Mommy Dearest fan, at all.
Yeah, I'm not a Mommy Dearest fan, at all.
Why do you think Charley's Dad is leaving her stepmom, now, after all these years? And why do you think she is making Reyes work so hard for an answer to his proposal?
