That'll give us roughly 11 days to nom, vote, secure copy; then we don't have to start Nov. 1 on the button. Anyway, let's start looking then posting titles. Hope we can find not only a good mystery but something of a Nov. feel, theme. What say you?

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments The Diva Runs Out of Thyme by Krista Davis

The Wolfe Widow by Victoria Abbott

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments There's a new Leslie Meier that sounds great for Thanskgiving but I warn the PIs...the author bashes some more politics over your head (lots of non PC characters trying to make a point I guess). I usually can ignore most of it but this time it was totally overdone and repetitive. I liked the actual mystery aspect but I found myself rolling my eyes quite a lot!

Also, Laura Childs has four books out that have a Thanksgiving theme. So it seems we'll have material to choose from. I am thankful! ;-)

If there's a mix 'tween liberal and conservative views then I guess okay but if it's all one-sided...ugh. Leslie, come on. I get too much politics daily from news. I read to escape them!!!!!

Wolfe Widow also sounded good. And here I thought we wouldn't have choices!!

Or another Lucy Stone to keep theme going. I believe she has two turkey mysteries in her series. She does put out a fairly decent holiday mystery esp. In her earlier material.

I would love to read the older Lucy Stone turkey mystery, but the newest release is filled with political opinion once again.....ugh.

message 13: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I read an older Thanksgiving Lucy Stone book and I remember it had something to do with Native American rights (can't remember exactly). Kind of political in nature but I don't remember enough about it to be sure.

Well, even if we didn't do one of the Thanksgiving Lucy Stone's there are plenty of others to choose from! Should we check the reviews on the older ones?

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Just thought I'd mention...last year, if anyone remembers, one of our November nominations was Drizzled with Death Drizzled with Death (Sugar Grove Mystery, #1) by Jessie Crockett My Facebook cozy mysteries group chose it for next month (if anyone is interested in participating)!

Thanks, NicoleG. o you want that title considered for The Parlor as well or just at FB? Either is fine here.

PI's, I guess we can go ahead and start posting titles. Kristie, you are one of us now (run!! lol) so please feel free to nominate a couple titles for Nov., K? We'd love your input. :-)

A couple of mine:

The Jasmine Moon Murder (A Tea Shop Mystery, #5) by Laura Childs The Jasmine Moon Murder

Turkey Day Murder Turkey Day Murder (A Lucy Stone Mystery, #7) by Leslie Meier

Fowl Prey Fowl Prey (Bed-and-Breakfast, #2) by Mary Daheim

All may not or may be totally turkey but as Halloween is so close to November, it still has that fall vibe going on. Still, looking for more titles.

I have both Diva Runs out of Thyme, which is the first in the series, and The Wolfe Widow, which is the third, but in a series I have read some of. I'd plump for either of these two.

Pghfan, do you recall if our group Read that Diva installment? I thought we read a few, that one included. I could be wrong.

message 23: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments It looks like you all read The Diva Wraps it Up, Steals a Kiss, and Serves High Tea. Doesn't look liked you read the first in the series.
I've read all of those suggested so far so I'd have to rely on my memory to contribute!

message 24: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Oh wait, I don't think I've read Fowl Prey! I read most in that series but I don't recall that one.

I know we jumped around Diva and couldn't recall whether we read Thyme.

I read MD's series (Fowl Prey) up to Silver Scream...I thought it pretty good. I gave up towards end of series but don't remember why. I liked it though.

Will take title noms up to mid day, Sun. as we should start voting process to move this on time for an early Nov. start date.

So-o, precious PI's, please post your picks umm...promptly.

message 27: by Allison (new)

Allison | 905 comments Personally I'm over Lucy Stone for awhile, especially if it's getting political at all. As someone mentioned, I read to get away from the daily headlines, politics, etc as I get enough of that in my daily life.

I do like the Diva series and haven't read the 1st one I think.

I am going to choose Drizzled with Death (Sugar Grove Mystery, #1) by Jessie Crockett as that seems appropriate for the season and is the 1st in a series I believe.

I see NicoleG got to your answer before I did, Tina! (I've been away for a long weekend of wine tasting, and eating!)

My two noms remain the same, Thyme and Wolfe Widow.

My two nominations are actually the same as Mark's - The Diva Runs Out of Thyme or The Wolfe Widow. :-)

Nice assortment of titles for Nov., PI's. I hope Kristie has a pick she'd like to toss into the mix. For me, I'm having a hard time reducing the list. They all sound good.

I do want to tackle another Lucy Stone (the earlier turkey mystery) but if this is where things go political then I guess I'll pass on it. Too bad LM does write a good holiday mystery. And I guess I can Toss Fowl Prey too.

Narrowing the list. Will do more by late tonight or tomorrow.

Last call for titles. Extended deadline -- cut off, midnight EST tonight. Thanks PI's!!

message 33: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments Tina, I'll read the earlier turkey Lucy Stone too if you'd like and we could just message back and forth. Let me know!

Kristie (kristiesbooknook) I just found this thread :)

I like the nominations for the earlier Lucy Stone turkey book, Wolfe Widow, and Drizzled with Death. I haven’t read any of these yet.

Arrgh. Poll was messing up so I'll just post titles here in no particular order (these seemed most popular so I let the others go). If there was a pref'd title in those left out, let me know and I'll return them for consideration as list got pared down quite a bit):

The Diva Runs Out of Thyme (A Domestic Diva Mystery, #1) by Krista Davis
Drizzled with Death (Sugar Grove Mystery, #1) by Jessie Crockett
Turkey Day Murder (A Lucy Stone Mystery, #7) by Leslie Meier
The Wolfe Widow (Book Collector Mystery #3) by Victoria Abbott

Just indicate your pick by posting to this thread.

Nicole, good of you to offer to read Turkey Day with me. Should we see how the vote turns out and go from there?

Anyone else going to have time for a side read? Post so under this thread.

I vote for The Diva Runs Out of Thyme and then for Turkey Day Murder as a side read. :-)

message 42: by Kristie (new)

Kristie (kristiesbooknook) Drizzled with Death is my first choice
Turkey Day Murder as a side read

message 43: by Allison (new)

Allison | 905 comments Drizzled with Death is my first choice

I'll do the side read even though it's Lucy Stone (I'll just skip anything political) so bring on the Turkey Day Murder!

message 44: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I probably wouldn't reread Turkey Day Murder but I might remember enough to put my 2 cents in! I have read the other nominated books already so I'd go with Drizzled with Death.
