I need to read that one.

In the end I've liked it to a point; not as much as I had anticipated

Reading the very bizarre and dark Korean novel City of Ash and Red. Occasionally darkly funny, more often disturbing, but never yet boring. Oh this guy, this monster, this narrator - he is something else!
Started yesterday our Lessons in Chemistry; didn't have much time to read though, and today I'm at work all day long. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon

Just started a book of one of my favourite XX Century Author: Odd Girl Out. Hope to find it as good as the orthers I've read by her

I read it last year and thought it was very good. I also enjoyed her The Women of Troy.

That one looks good Gavin! Eager to hear what you think of it.

Currently reading Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up - think it's probably down as my worst book of 2023. Have started skipping through it already.

Read it because of Arrival (aka Story of your Life). It was a very unique compilation of short stories.
I'mactually "listening" to Good Girl, Bad Blood, the second title of the series A good Girl's Guide to Murder. Not bad, for a YA Mystery

Hi, I've had several attempts but can't get into the thread about books actually read - it just times out. Has the thread got too long for Goodreads to cope?
Hi Pam, I created a new Part 3 of the "What have you just read?" folder for new posts. I can open Part 2, but it takes forever; probably sometimes it fails to open at all - I moved part 2 to the General Archive folder.
Hope that helps! Let us know if there are any other threads that have trouble, and thanks so much for pointing it out!

Now you have piqued my interest!

Thanks Greg, it was never opening for me!

Tobacco Road which I am finding somewhat hard to take (so much bleakness!) so I am reading it in small increments;
The Sea, the Sea in audiobook format;
Cryptonomicon
But I have decided to take a break from all that serious reading to dip into one of the final books in the Tommy Hambledon spy-thriller series - Search for a Sultan. My interlibrary loan of this book came in yesterday & I can't wait any longer to get to it!

I applaud your fun Hambledon diversion Leslie!
I still enjoy some classics and "serious" fare as well, but I definitely mix in lighter stuff. I don't worry anymore about what I for some reason feel I should be reading and rather just enjoy what I want.
How is the Stephenson by the way? I liked Snow Crash back when I read it.
