Sarah I Will Always Wrute Back

When I was in fifth grade my teacher had told us we would be receiving letters from our new pen pals from England. My reaction to her announcement was unimaginable. I was so excited just like Caitlin was excited to start writing to Martin. I connect with Caitlin becasuse just like her I realized how different people who don't live in the U.S lives are. For instance England is in a different time zone and also it would take a while to get his letter from England so it was interesting seeing the date he put on the top and the date it came just like Caitlin waiting for a call from Martin and letter after letter waiting and anticipating. I enjoyed this book because I had so many connections to it.
I Will Always Write Back is about a spoiled middle school girl who has no idea what the outside world is like, until one day her teacher makes her pick a country she would like to have a pen pal from. Out of all the places she picks Zimbabwe and starts writing to Martin Ganda, a poor boy who wants to go to school but had to work to help his family. When Caitlin first started writing to Martin she had no clue what his life was like and didn't really care until one day she sent him a dollar so he could see what one looks like and this was the start of a great story. Cailtin realized the issue and wanted to help so she started sending money to the Ganda family, but this is just the some of the story there is still much to come.
This book helps me realize that not all people have the opportunity I have in life, others have to work harder fo what they want or not work at all. I used to complain about school or too much homework but I have realized that reading and school gets me into college and a bright future. Mean while, some kids around the world don't have the opportunity to even go to school. Also, I have be taking my belongings for granted, when I was ten years old I begged for an iPhone when I already had an IPod I was begging for something I didn't need while a little boy or girl was begging for food or money. This book helps me realize the small things in life and makes me humble.
