The Next Best Book Club discussion

I would be immensely grateful if someone happens to know the title of a book I have been searching for. I've tried googling a long list of key words, but I can't seem to find it.

I have only read the description of the book. All I (vaguely) remember is that the book ends with a deceptive character abandoning a group of people in the wilderness. The group is composed of people who deride civilization, but they had not expected to be suddenly left to fend for themselves in the wild. The leader tells the group something along the lines of "this is what you wanted. So go on, be one with nature."

I know that's not much to work with. Anyone well-read enough to have come across this book?
