MC Turner | 121 comments My favorite sweater just got ruined and I'm probably going to get a f- on my math test so I need something happy to think about

Illuminae
Crown of midnight
Insurgent
Red queen

Magnus Iskander Reim (magnusiskanderreim) | 44 comments Illuminae. The rest are low-class YA bullsh*t you'll feel like you're already read a thousand times before.

Sunny (sunnysbooks) | 45 comments Illumine. Sophie is right. The rest are so typically YA. I enjoyed Crown of Midnight, but went on to dislike the rest of the books in that series. I only like them for the secondary characters. But you might like Throne of Glass since it seems everyone does and it’s so hyped.

But Illumine is so unique in the way it’s written. So points for Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff!

abby (loveland_frog) | 0 comments Maybe wouldn't go so far as to agree with the above comments, as I enjoyed the Throne of Glass and Red Queen series - even liked Insurgent when I read it quite a while ago - but would agree that you should go with Illuminae. You said you wanted a happy read, but out of your options each of them are pretty bleak - but Illuminae will leave you feeling the most hopeful, I reckon.

MC Turner | 121 comments I just thought about it and I'm changing my opitions

Murder on the orient express
Percy Jackson #2
Ms.marval
Red queen

Magnus Iskander Reim (magnusiskanderreim) | 44 comments When I say "YA bulls*it", I mean it's trying to literally sell you something so i-original and new but it won't. It's nice, guilty pleasures with not much food for thought in it.
You'll feel nice reading it but honestly, I've always felt like I should have spent my time reading sometime with a bit more nutritional value after finishing one of those.

I wholeheartedly agree! I admit I enjoy reading some YA, but it feels like nowadays it plays it safe and offers very little to chew on.

Looking forward to reading Illuminae! Seems very promising.
